Up and running again!

(5 out of 5) by Kristine Rukavina on Sep 6, 2009 (Woodbridge, Va)
Read all the reviews and was a little skeptical but I got exactly what I needed and fast!
I am buying another one because it was such an easy purchase. I had one day the unit got hot but have had no issues with it at all.
Great buy!

Meh

It does what it needs but its pretty cheap.

The rubber covering in a few places has cracked leaving the wires exposed, the plastic casing has cracked along the seam and needed to be taped to keep the internals of the adapter from falling out.

Edit. Seriously DO NOT buy this, after half a year of use it just hardly works. For me it takes 3 hours to charge compared to my original which takes an hour and the wire for the plug has to be in a certain position.

Worked at first, but then had problems

(2 out of 5) by Eden H. on Jan 24, 2009 (San Francisco, CA)
While I had misgivings about buying an off-brand laptop charger, I couldn't pass up the price. The item arrived quickly, and seemed to work fine at first. Within 3 months, I started having problems:

1)It started running hot, which I noticed first because the label on the brick came off because the heat melted the adhesive. I just thought it was cheap adhesive and didn't think much of it.

2)The part of the cord that covers the wires inside it separated in 2 places (on either side of the power brick), leaving the wires inside exposed. Because I use this at home, not traveling, and don't move it around much, I thought I could just be careful, and it wouldn't matter.

3)As of today, the power is now cutting out intermittently, and I'm worried it will do damage to my laptop. I have it plugged into a surge-protected power supply, and like I said, I'm not moving this around, so I don't know why this is happening.

I sent an email message to the seller today, describing these problems, and hopefully they will offer and exchange/refund. But next time I'll go with the Toshiba charger and pay the extra money.

so so product

I bought this for my Toshiba laptop. It is not as good as the original Toshiba one, but it works fine.

Not worth buying...

(1 out of 5) by ltabor on Dec 14, 2008 (SC)
I purchased this adapter after reading the satisfied customer reviews. I was pleasantly surprised that I could save a great deal and still have exactly what my toshiba laptop spec'd.
When it arrived it was not the exact amp that it stated on my order. This company does not have a phone number, but I was able to track the "shipper" through the shipping address. I googled the phone number and called. They were surprised to receive a phone call and were rather hesitant in explaining they were merely the "shipping name and address". What does that mean?
I then emailed the company through my amazon order confirmation, rec'd a response that the adapter was "fine to use", it should pose no problems. I emailed and wanted to know if they had the "exact" spec's that I had ordered and rec'd a response to ship it back and they would refund my money.
Since I cannot operate my laptop without a power source, I decided to use it. After 4 weeks, the casing around the charger came off (split along the seams), I taped it back together. Then the plugs on both sides of the adapter starting showing the wire, eventually (1 week later), I plugged it in, it arched and went poof!
I would not recommend ordering from this company, since they specifically give you the spec's they are going to send you and then send something else. I know I saved quite a bit of money ordering from them, but in the end result I have spent more. They should mention "...or close as possible to what you actually want".
