(4 out of 5) by bdgilfry@wildchildpublishing.com on Nov 20, 2009 (California)I don't think I've ever gotten above 10MB/sec uploading to the computer through a cardreader, but the write speed in the camera is fast enough to keep up, even shooting RAW files plus large super-fine JPEGs.
PNY seems to be a good brand with reliability and longevity. While I've used this card for only a few months, I also own a 4GB PNY card that I've used for a year.
I would buy PNY again.

Compact Flash with National Geographic Branding

When it arrived in Amazon's smiley box, to my surprise, I found the memory card was packaged in a DVD-style case co-branded with National Geographic logo (no, CF and the box art are not in bright yellow...).
While some memory cards are now shipped in Amazon frustration free package, PNY's packaging is unique and equally effective at reducing stress level and potential infliction on innocent fingers. It's not as environmental friendly, however, but I found the box (with National Geographic branded paper insert removed) can be re-used as camera's flash diffuser. The part with the hole for the store shelf hook can be used as the handle.
The memory card itself has no problem. I used it with my Olympus DSLR and it's pretty fast. It has not given me a bad recording yet. It is UDMA enabled, so make sure your camera as well as memory reader are capable of that to take the full advantage of the quicker write speed. By the way, UDMA CF is backward compatible with regular CF.
This card's speed is 266x. If your device is not UDMA enabled, you can buy 233x or slower cards and save a few bucks. Newer DSLRs that use CF cards should have UDMA mode. I know Olympus E30 and E620 both use this faster writing standard. For USB card reader, I use Kingston 19-in-1 USB 2.0 Flash Memory Card Reader (but I found out that reader does NOT accept xD memory, which Olympus cameras use).
Overall, it's nice... (what else can you say about a CF card?).

Buy it!
(5 out of 5) by Jo Ann Robbins on Oct 11, 2009 (Left Coast, USA)This card is fantastic. FYI, PNY is made in Japan rather than in China, and the Japanese are famous for quality control. I have a wonderful friend who is an electrical engineer with several patents on his wall, and he tells me that he and his engineering buddies don't and won't buy any cards but PNY, because they're familiar with the fabrication testing and requirements of the company. You won't be sorry if you buy this card - it's big, fast, and performs flawlessly for both the video and hi-demand still functions of my Canon 5D mark II.

Great Memory Card
(5 out of 5) by Michael Gieseking on Sep 7, 2009Got this in the mail about two weeks ago and had no problems with it at all. Put it in my Nikon D300 and was able to do a full speed burst (8fps) for a little over a second at the highest jpeg setting before the buffer between the camera and the card caught up with it. At the lower setting I was able to hold max speed continuously for several seconds. It is a little pricey but the writing speed is great if you're into sports photography, and the 8GB size has turned out to be a great size for my D300 (about 250 Raw + JPEG Fine or 1,000 JPEG Fine photos). I carry two now and I'd recommend them to anyone that is looking for a superior card for their superior DSLR.
