Much better than the "standard" charger

(5 out of 5) by Ron on Jan 19, 2009 (Forest, VA)
Got this battery charger based on recommendations given in a Nikon D80 online forum. It provides much better operation for rechargeable AA batteries than the standard chargers that come with sets of batteries. This charger reconditions batteries as well as charging them, so you get more life from a battery as well. One of the real positives of this charger is that each battery charging slot is independent - so you can charge batteries of multiple ratings (ie 2000 mAh and 2700 mAh) at the same time... and each is charged optimally. I have noticed MUCH better battery performance on all the batteries I have charged on this, and have reconditioned old batteries that had gotten to the point of not holding charge for any length of time. After reconditioning, the old batteries were ... almost ... as good as when I bought them.

I highly recommend this charger. It seems expensive at first, but you will get much better life from your rechargeable batteries and better performance from them as well!

PowerEx MH-C9000 WizardOne Rules!

(5 out of 5) by Bruce A. Anderson on May 25, 2009 (Pasco, WA USA)
The reason for this purchase was extreme frustration with two Duracell 15-minute chargers and a crudload of 2650 batteries I got to power four Canon Speedlite flashes. I couldn't get 10 minutes out of them before the flash recycling times made them unusable!
I bought the smart charger based on other reviews here so I'm just going to provide a few observations:
1. Excellent appearance - looks professional and well-made.
2. Read the instruction sheet carefully - there are multiple charge modes used at different times.
3. When the battery is inserted the charger prompts you for the charge mode, etc. Very easy to set up.
4. Every battery that hasn't been on this charger should go thru the Break-In mode - it takes almost two full days but the results are worth it. I just spent six hours at a local event using a lot of flash photography and didn't have to change out the batteries at all!
5. A regular charge can be done in about one hour.
6. They recommend "matching" the batteries based on their capacity (shown when charging is done) - I'm using a spreadsheet to track that and have put labels on each battery showing the battery number, capacity, and group it belongs to. Overkill perhaps but it's paid off so far.
7. Once you've used it a few times it becomes a lot easier.
8. The Duracell 15-minute chargers have been tossed - I'm not so sure that such a short charging time is good for batteries anyway.
9. I've already purchased another MH-C9000 as a backup and to charge more batteries in the same amount of time.
This is the first review I've ever posted - I see a lot of these and wonder if they were written by someone at the company that makes the product. I'm just a regular guy who is excited over finding something that solved a major problem in a big way.

"This Could Be One Of Your Investment..."

(5 out of 5) by Shaolin Monk on May 1, 2009 (San Diego, CA)
I have lots of rechargeable AA and AAA batteries. In the long run, they seem to get worn down and won't function the way they would when I first bought them. I don't like spending too much on buying battery replacements. As much as I can, I would maximize every use of my rechargeable batteries so I decided to look for something that would replace my standard battery charger... Something that would be more useful than just charging batteries, and I discovered this Powerex WizardOne Battery Charger-Analyzer.

It may seem unbelievable at first what it described it can do and the time I got my item (which arrived sooner than I expected) I read through the instructions (which it's not too detailed for someone who may not know so much about this electronic) and started working on my batteries. It would require your patience on your part as it won't be for a short time before your batteries are done with the whole process which excludes charging being the fastest to complete of all functions.

When my batteries finished the final cycle (Refresh and Analyze) and got charged, I tested my batteries and surprisingly they worked like they were newly bought. Up to now, I'm still using this. I even forgot that I still have a battery charger stored somewhere.

This PowerEx WizardOne Charger-Analyzer can be your investment, since the less batteries you buy, the more you can save few bucks that would add up in the future. I would highly recommend this to anyone. Although the technical manual isn't that detailed, Accessory Genie has customer care representatives that would for the most part help you if you need further assistance. Trust me on this, customer satisfaction is their top priority, and this product is truly amazing.

A top quality "Smart" charger

(5 out of 5) by John on Mar 2, 2009 (Milwaukee, WI)
A high quality smart charger made to get the most out of rechargable NIMH or NiCD batteries. It can be involved as some have noted to input battery capacity information and charge/discharge rates desired, but that is to maximize battery life and there is a lot of information at [...] as well, if a person wants or needs to know more.

Whether the display is a night light or can't turn off is of no concern, really, when I was looking for a top quality smart battery charger (I'm not sure why someone needs it in their bedroom only to be bothered by the backlighting anyway - move it to another room *problem solved*). The charger does what it was intended to do: analyze, charge, discharge, and refresh AA and AAA batteries.

Of special interest to someone wanting maximum life out of the investment made in NIMH batteries is the fact that this charger monitors the temperature of the batteries - a feature Radio Control users highly use everyday. This is an important feature as discharging and recharging generates heat and DIRECTLY has an effect on how the battery reacts to discharging and charging.

This is a quality charger and does what is expected of a smart charger in order to get the most possible out of rechargeable batteries.

I'm also looking at the MH-C801D 8-cell smart charger since maintaining a handful of batteries can be very time consuming 4 at-a-time. I'm favoring this model because of the heavy duty adapter, interchangeable power cord, and 1-hour charge capability as compared to other 8-cell chargers.

Note: I bought my charger with 4 Powerex AA's from Accessory Genie (due to their 99% satisfaction rating), but they currently show up as "Customer Satisfaction Ratings Leader". Shipping was comparable to the other main merchant listed but you have to look at exactly who the shipping merchant is.

Charger for AA and AAA Batteries

(5 out of 5) by Little Rascal on Mar 13, 2009 (Wilmington,NC)
I purchased this charger with a set of AA batteries from a dealer on Amazon.com and I received the product in the condition that was described, and it works great. I havent stopped using it since I bought it. It takes some time to recondition the batteries, no complaints here. I would recommend it to anoyone.
