Smallest Ever! PC/USB users caution.

Feb 26, 2008 - By Cornwallis Alabaster Cuspidor, III (but you can call me Sprinkles) (Atlanta, GA)

This thing is super small and the case is almost identical to the aluminum material of my MacBook Pro. I haven't found a smaller firewire drive. The case does get a bit warm when used for extended periods but that is to be expected because it doesn't have a fan.

I tried it with my Dell Inspiron 8600 (via USB) and it would not work. The drive pulled too much juice from the USB port and tripped the power surge protection every time I plugged it in. My Dell has done this with other devices so it could just be the Dell and not the external drive.

Completely satisfied with this device. I do wish it has the 7200rpm disk in it and a FireWire800 port, however. But you cannot find that combo in portable drives right now. So this was the next best thing.

Iomega Portable Hard Drive

May 14, 2008 - By Ben

Fast, small and light - just the features for a portable hard drive. Good for storing video and audio flies and fast enough to play them back directly from the drive. Comes with both USB and Firewire connections, and the cords, plus a power cord in case port does not provide sufficient power. Only one Firewire port so can't daisy-chain.

Firewire external HD 250GB

Using it for my Mac Leopard Time Machine backups. Works smoothly and transparently. Coolest thing about Leopard, for my money.

Great for home external storage

Jul 28, 2008 - By Robert Hogan (AR)

So far, I have been very satisfied with the Iomega Portable hard drive Firewire 400/USB 2.0. It is fast, quiet, and cool. My wife and I permanently live in a RV trailer and space is at a premium. We purchased this drive to back up our laptop.

Great unit so far.

Great price, simple design, good options

Aug 10, 2008 - By Chaichat Pilun-owad

I like the iOmega products, and with this price i can the great deal with the capacity. They design really well and looks good when i put next to my Mac. This one also has the switch that u can choose among USB2.0/Firewire, OFF, DC. it comes with 3 cables which are Firewire, USB and USB DC. It seems like I also can replace with the bigger size of hard disk cos i see the screws on both sizes. One think i dont like is the white plastic part in the front and back part. Anyway, good product.
