I researched the heck out of HDTVs that had DVDs as part of the TV mechanism. You have the option of having it up on small footings (because the TV is so light, that works well) or the option of buying extra pieces to mount directly to the wall. Ours is sitting in a nice armoire where the doors can close around it right now.
Also, again after researching Consumers Reports, Toshiba was one of the highest rated TVs, so I was very excited to find it on sale AND with free shipping at the same time right before Christmas. Definitely a great find!
Fantastic HDTV with great Analog Picture
I couldn't recommend this television more. I have a 56" Samsung 1080p DLP, which I love for HD channels, but the analog viewing is mediocre at best. This Toshiba provides surprisingly crisp reception on analog channels and is great for HD. It's also in a room that gets a lot of sun. There's no glare whatsoever. And the footprint of built-in DVD makes it very sleek. Great TV.
Solid
The first impression when opening the box and examining the parts is ...this is a solid piece of equipment. Many LCD sets sit precariously on stands seemingly ready to be knocked over with the slighest swipe...not this set. The Regza has a super sturdy stand that is screwed together to the panel unit. In a matter of minutes the TV is ready to be connected to the video provider. In this case we had cable and used the multi colored connectors then used the setup function to set the unit at 1080. The HD stations are crystal clear. Using the DVD is super simple. A great looking set that eliminates the need for a DVD player. A good value and highly recommended.
Beautiful TV with not-so good built-in dvd player
I connect this TV to (a) cable tv top-box, Motorola, via DVI-to-HDMI and stereo RCA (cable top-box supports DVI and component only for hi-def) and (b) Wii via component video and stereo RCA.
PRO: The black TV exterior design is beautiful in my small living room, the size 26 in is just right. It was able to produce 720p or 1080i from the cable tv top-box with no problem. I could not say much about the sound, it's just okay even the SRS surround is on. Playing Wii game in 480p is excellent with no noticeable latency.
CON: I have one issue with this TV. I have a vacation DVD I developed with Sony Vegas Studio (latest version) which is unplayable with the built-in DVD player. This home-made DVD is, howeve, completely playable with Samsung DVD player (DVD-1080P7), Toshiba HD-A2, and also another Toshiba DVD recorder (1 year old). Commercial DVDs (or Hollywood-produced) are played with no issue.
Simply the Best
I just got this HDTV/DVD Combo and it has been amazing. First, it plays the dvds better then my big Vizio the upconverting to 720p is amazing. Second, the tuner will "catch" every digital channel from your cable company that is not scrambled including the HD cnannels and I was amazed how many we got here you almost don't need the HD converter if you only want the local channels. Third, Toshiba have done wonderful job in writting the manual and I recommend that you read it, it will make your experience way much better. The TV has favorites feature which is very ease to use and you forget about punching in the number of the channels. And last of course, you have the DVD player included and you can install it on the wall ( like I did) and enjoy all the free space you get.
I will recommend this product as the best HDTV you can buy for your bedroom unless of course you have space for the 32" :)
Toshiba has done it again! Thank you!
