the real deal

(5 out of 5) by elsinore98 on Aug 5, 2007 (The Poconos, PA)
In the past, I've owned a few el cheapo varsions of this item which cost 1/2-1/3 of the price (notably the style currently seen at some of the big box retailers). It is worth spending a little more $ to get the real thing. These boxes are fantastic at keeping your gear dry and protected. I had the closure on one of my boxes finally give out, but that was only after several years of service and abuse.

Excellent Product!!!

(5 out of 5) by Kate M. Luginbuhl on Feb 15, 2007 (California)
We use these on the fire department to keep our electronic gadgets clean and dry. Even under rough field conditions, these perform excellently... They are easy to open, even with gloves on, yet keep everything clean and ready to operate. We use them for our GPS instruments, our Kestrel weather instruments, digital cameras, cell phones and lots of other small electronics... There are many sizes available and the inner space is rubberized so your gear doesn't bounce around. I recommend the smallest case that your item will fit in.You have a choice of colors and sizes with clear tops to easily identify your gear...

Perfect dry-box.

(5 out of 5) by J. Christensen on Jan 20, 2009 (Citrus CO. FL)
The Pelican series Dry-boxes are ideal for carrying anything you don't want to get wet. I used this particular box for Kayaking to take out my phone and point-and-shoot digital camera. The Panasonic Lumix LZ7 was a typical (not slim) pocket cam and my phones ranged in size. They always seemed to fit together in the box though with room to spare. The lanyard is *just* large enough to fit around itself so that you can attach it to something (my kayak's webbing in my case).

Two cautions though. If any moisture, from your wet hands, or just on accident while the top is open, gets in the dry box and you then shut it and have it in the sun it will become like a greenhouse/rain forest in there. I recommend the opaque top models so that this isn't an issue. The other caution: If you're in salt water and it becomes submerged then rinse the hinges with fresh water when you get back home or else they will rust. Even with rust on the hinges it still works though...

Never ever ever had a drop of water enter the case while the top was latched shut. That's the point right? I'm buying a larger case since I've moved up to a better camera but I'm going right back to Pelican. Keeps the water out, easy to use, long life, no wear...

For those of you looking for a case for your SD1100, this case fits the camera and charger perfectly, with a little room to spare on the sides for memory cards.

Great case!

This is a great case! I use it to carry my wireless microphone in my camera case when I travel.

If you have sensitive electronics that need protecting, I would highly recommend this case!
