Great Product Plus Battery Solution!

My Boom Bucket was great for 3 years until it stopped charging. I was sad. However, there is hope! For those with battery issues: The problem is that the battery life lasts 3 years. After 3 years the battery does not hold charge (just like your favorite multimedia phone). The good news is that you can replace the battery easily!
With the unit unplugged, remove the 4 screws at the bottom, pop the bottom off, gently pull the battery prongs off the battery, slide out the battery, carry it to Batteries Plus (Or similar store), get it replaced for less than [...], slap it back in, charge it, enjoy for another 3 years, repeat...

For those that bought a new one with a dead battery, see if the vendor can take [...] off for you (they should). Any brand new bucket that's sat on the shelf for 3 years: Guess What? The battery is dead and will not hold charge. Replace it! It's worth it!
The Unit itself still deserves 5 stars. It sounds great, is loud enough to bug neighbors, looks great, protects your iPod, and the battery can be replaced!

Buyer Beware

The salesman told us ALL of the DOZEN in Stock BoomBuckets came with dead batteries and he Personally changed them out for new batteries. I bought one and guess what- after a 24 hour charge - dead battery.
Defeats the purpose of a Battery operated device if the Baterries don't work. Taking it Back Today, JUST Another Great Made In China Product!

Great Product, but Don't Buy
(2 out of 5) by Larry on Jun 13, 2009 (Jersey)This is one of the very best Portable iPod systems available - loud, protective case for iPod, very portable. The problem is the rechargable battery - - it just *does not* work (I have tested and returned two of them).
Brookstone has discontinued this item (PLEASE bring it back it working order and designed for the Touch). They have also sent a letter to the stores about the rechargeable batteries not working.
If you can deal with always being plugged in, this is still a great product. If you need it "to go" like me, it just plain NO GOOD.

great, loud sound

Cool product but our battery went bad in 1 month

Our battery never worked correctly (didn't hold a charge as long as it should) from the get go and we had to call the company last week to get a new one - hopefully this new battery works and the whole thing isn't bad. Be warned if you don't order directly from Brookstone they will not honor their 1 year warranty. Not a HUGE deal since the battery only cost $12.95...but still it is jtue principle of the issue.
