I've had this camera since may of last year(2008)and have had nothing but problems with it. Takes really blurry pics in auto mode and I have to manualy set it to take a clear pic. Then the lense stopped retracting when I would turn it off and now it will not even charge or turn on at all. Even before it refused to charge it would just shut off and not work even when fully charged. To top it off you have to pay to get it shipped in to be repaired. I've just ordered a new camera because I'm tired of dealing with all the problems. My 2 mega pixel camera took better pics. The software is also a pain. I'll never own another kodak again. Many great memories have missed out on being captured due to this crappy camera!
Kodak is wonderful
I love Kodak cameras! Before I bought this one I had a V1033 and it took the best pictures! After I dropped it for the 300th time the lcd screen finally cracked so I knew I had to get another Kodak, they are the only cameras I trust, they last the longest and they have the best color quality! This camera is sleek and compact, but it packs a punch. It takes amazing hd videos if that's your thing, with 12mp every picture is crisp, as with all cameras it takes a little while to get use to with the auto focus and all the different settings, I bought a 16 gig memory card and at 12mp it holds 5000 pictures, it was totally worth it because it was only about [...] bucks. I dont like Kodak's software so I never install it. The camera comes with a rechargeable battery pack which is awesome but it only allows you to charge it though your USB port, luckily my V1033 came with a charger and it works for this camera too, so I would probably buy a charger from Kodak if you dont have one. I would recommend this camera to anyone who loves what Kodak offers and wants an amazing point and shoot for a great price! TOTALLY WORTH IT!!
Could have been much, much better
I've had this camera for about a year now, and after using it for some time I have concluded that this camera is not worth the price. If you aren't outside, photos look more like an oil painting. While image quality is poor, videos are somewhat decent: HD video is a big plus, and what originally sold me on this camera. However, if I had to make the decision all over again, I wouldn't buy this.
Ok, but...
After reading many good reviews for this camera, I decided to purchase it. I'm a sucker for good design, and the 12 megapixel with HD video were features i couldn't resist.
Outside, on extremely sunny days, the pictures are excellent. Razor-sharp detail, perfect coloring, ect... but on cloudy days or indoors, the pictures turned out blurry and shaky 9/10 times. Sure there's a flash, but that only works for close-up subjects. Outdoors, when using flash on a subject, say, across the street, the pictures are almost completely black, and wastes battery unnecessarily.
Close-ups on things like flowers and stuff are beautiful, but it isn't the best camera for taking pictures of people. You have them pose, you take a picture without the flash, you wait to find the colors are completely washed out. You turn off flash, you take the picture, you wait, only to find the picture extremely blurry. The whole process takes so long that the people you're taking a picture of get angry and annoyed at you.
Lots of time, the video quality was better than the actual picture quality with flash off.
Mostly, this camera is good, like freaky good. Its like a microscope. Yet it falls pretty darn short when taking pictures with the flash off...
That is unless I'm doing something wrong, and believe me when I say I've tried everything i could think of.

It's 'okay' for a Point and Shoot
I thought I'd review this camera now that I've had it for almost a year. It's okay. Not the greatest camera out there. The picture quality if really good when using the flash and in Auto focus. You do need a steady hand in order to not have blurry pictures. My biggest issue thus far is that I CANNOT for the life of me get clear pictures without using the flash. I wanted to take pictures in a darker setting to get Christmas lights, but the settings such as candlelight or fireworks, or other nighttime settings just don't cut it. The pictures are grainy, blurred, and too dark. I also have a 15 month old and it's very difficult getting a non-blurred shot of her at times.
If you are into landscape scenes, taking pictures of flora, etc. where the scenery basically doesn't move, then you can definitely get really nice pictures.
As for the video, it's not bad. I haven't had any issues with the sound or the picture. Both are pretty clear.
One other issue I've had is that there have been times where the camera has gotten stuck to where it's not really off or on. Usually this would happen if the battery needs charged, but when it's happened to me, the battery was fully charged.
Anyhow, I rated this three stars. I think that you can probably find a better camera than this.
