Units Bad in Arizona Heat and Never Work Right.

When we first had these installed by a professional, they worked really good. These were the video units we were dreaming about having for all our kids in the Caravan. They were the answer to our travel dreams.

Then the summer Arizona heat rolled in and these units have not worked correctly since. The DVD player reads and reads and never starts the movies. It sometimes defaults to some wierd international setting in PAL format and that keeps it from running correctly as well. They seem to work only when they want to. It is very frustrating, especially with a two year old boy who loves to watch Barney and The Wiggles while on the road.

I have reset the setting in menu but something always happens to the system where it goes back. I enjoy the video gaming part of this system and so do the kids "when they work". We enjoy the wireless sound transmit function that allows the system to play through the car stereo "when they work".

After the first 7 months of using these(in cooler weather), they have only worked about 5 times(summer).

Not that good for the price. I beleive the internal parts are of a lower electronic quality and not worth the money unless the manufacturing company does something to further insulate these units from heat damage. My other suggestion would be to manufacture separate units just for North America without the foreign international settings being included, it just causes DVD conflict issues and problems.

Nice if you don't expect them to work long. By the time you find out they break down on you, its too late for a return or a refund. And no one is going to pay you back for the installation fees putting them in.

Not bad at all!

GOLDEN - 2 x 7" LCD Headrest DVD VCD CD MP3 JPG Player-GRAY Colour I'd say that these units weren't bad for the price at all. I got what I ordered. The units installed pretty easily (except for the fact that the writer's fat fingers had trouble fishing wires through and around the interior). Wireless headsets would have been a nice addition. The FM transmitter to run the sound through the car sound system works really well. The dvd player portion works well without skipping. It seems like one of the displays may have a bit of an issue with too much white (it kind of goes green during the real white scenes of Happy Feet) but the video otherwise isn't bad at all. Seems to play just about any video format you put into it. Really! One thing that should be changed though is the output wires need to be lengthened by at least 12 inches. Even though the added wiring is plenty long enough, the output wire connector is the only connector that can go through the headrest opening but once you get it through, I wasn't able to run it all the way down in the seat back to get to it to connect the mating connector. I barely got one connector far enough to connect. The only thing that will affect is that if we want to run a video through both of the screens at the same time, I can only run it one of the players not in either one. Hard for me to explain but hope you got that. The manual is definitely in "Chinglish" but the units are pretty simple so minimal reference is necessary. I'd venture to say that your kids would probably pick it up easy without the manual! :-)
