These headphones are a good bargain for the price. If you're looking in the $10 range, you're probably not too concerned with audiophile-quality sound or extreme comfort, so these will do nicely.
Quality-wise, they're pretty well built. I don't feel like I'm going to break them when I pick them up, and they've held out well for the past month of use. I wouldn't roll over them with my chair, but they look like they'll make it for the long haul.
The headset has decent sound; not horrible, not great. It would be hard to enjoy listening to music through these as they are treble-heavy, sound tinny, and are missing in the mid-range. They work great for VOIP and gaming though, as the sound is clear, crisp, and more than tolerable for voice.
As far as the mic goes, it is pretty good. It has a high and low selector switch, which is nice, and it is fairly sensitive. The high setting is good for nighttime gaming when the house is quiet and you don't want to have to yell to be heard for fear of waking the house. The low setting is perfect for the daytime when you don't mind talking in a normal voice and you don't want the kids in the background to be heard. There is only a minor, more than tolerable hiss in recordings which all but disappears when used for VOIP.
They are fairly comfortable and don't bite or pinch with extended use. I do have two complaints though, but they are minor: first, the speakers are on pivots where they connect to the headband. I'm not sure why they are, but I find it irritating because the move around too much and don't "settle in" and sit perfectly. Second, the headband comes too tight out of the box, but can be stretched. When I say tight, I mean the pressure in towards your head. I found, however, that if I stretched them over the edge of my desk overnight that that fixed the problem. I would give them five stars if they were more comfortable.
Just to confirm all the specs, they do indeed have an inline volume control, which is great, and they use two standard 1/8" jacks to connect to the computer (they're not USB). The cord is about 8 feet from headset to connectors (which is good, 'cause you can plug them way in the back of the case buried under the desk and still have cord leftover), with the volume control about 2' from the headset.
All in all they're a pretty decent headset, and I would buy them again, but not without checking around a little to compare alternatives in the same price range.
Works Great
The work great. I just plugged them in and no problem. I use them for internet phone calls. The swival boom is very nice and the inline volume control is essential. All that with good sound quality and a cheap price gives them a 5 star rating.
