Worth every cent.......An easy way to healthier eating
This is a SUNBEAM Heritage Series product. Great for making quick fruit smoothies, purees, grating cheese, or chopping nuts and vegetables. We have become smoothie fanatics since I purchased it making fruit smoothies and quick sauces/salsas mostly. It's like a mini-blender without all the fuss. A cup attaches to the blender so you can blend and drink straight from the cup you blend in (cups comes with different lids for either storage or drinking and just rinse clean!). Easy for kids to use. No buttons. Push down on container to blend (pulse feature) or let go to stop. Can lock on cup for a non-stop blend feature. Powerful motor. Compact unit. An excellent baby food maker. Super easy to clean and very, VERY convenient to use. Think I'm gonna buy another! :-) A+

Why buy this?
I picked one of these up to try it as a coffee and spice grinder, because of the convenience of grinding directly into a storage container. However, when I got it home, I discovered that it doesn't have a grinder or food processor blade - it has a blender blade, despite being marketed as a food processor. In addition, the blade is very dull.
So, combine a dull blender blade with a motor far too weak to crush ice, and what do you get? Food bounces off the blade instead of being chopped or crushed. if it's wet, it then sticks to the top of the cup, and you will have to remove the cup and shake to dislodge - tapping or tilting won't work. Pulsing helps with this, but forget five or ten second pulses - the try 1/2 second pulses. In the end, this device creates more labor than it saves.
In addition, it has (as far as I can tell - I didn't lose a finger checking) no safety mechanism to prevent the blade from running without the cup on. The instruction booklet warns not to put the blade on the base without a cup attached, but it's far too easy to absentmindedly do so, and very nervewracking to get it off again. Don't buy this if you have children tall enough to reach the kitchen counter, or if you're absentminded.
If you want a coffee and spice grinder, get a regular coffee grinder, not this. If you want something that will process wet items directly into storage containers, try a personal blender with a higher power motor - then you'll also be able to use it for smoothies and ice crushing. There is no reason to purchase this device.

I miss mine
I really did enjoy my kitchen assistant,so when it died, I wanted another one, but they aren't made anymore :-(
It was half the cost of the MB but it worked just as well as far as I can tell.
