Great Subwoofer loaded with features

(5 out of 5) by A. Garr on May 4, 2008 (Philadelphia, USA)
I recently upgraded to the Polk DSWPro 500. Initially I bought a Polk PSW10 sub to compliment my Monitor 50 floorstanding speakers, which are great but with only dual 5 1/4 woofers, the 50's are lacking in the bass department. The PSW10 was decent, but I was still missing the deep hard hitting bass I had hoped for. The DSWPro 500 took care of that and then some. I'll start with the fit and finish.

This sub is very well built and attractive to look at even though it is all black. The base feet are solid and not cheap like the monitor series speakers or the little nubbins on the PSW10. If you want, you can move the feet to the back side to make it a front firing sub. The speaker is very clean looking and the side port is attractive. In the down firing position, the blue LED light looks very nice and if you don't like the brightness of it, you can turn the light off altogether.

Features and Sound
This sub has very nice features. There are the normal volume and crossover knobs in the back, but what makes this such a cool sub is that it comes with a remote with volume control and equalized settings depending on where in your room the sub is placed. Anything you need done with the sub can be controlled with the remote. As I mentioned before, the LED light looks cool and the fact that you can turn it off is a nice touch.
This sub sounds ridiculous. Some nights I am actually afraid to turn the volume up too loud because this thing shakes the whole house. The bass is tight and clear. When I first bought it, the sound was muddy, but I hadn't set up my receiver crossover settings yet. Don't forget to do that.

I bought this sub for a ridiculously low price of $269... but it was refurbished. Absolutely nothing was wrong with it though. It was like it was brand new. I see that it is selling new for $500, but maybe if you are lucky, you can find it refurbished for the same price I paid. Worth every penny.

Very happy

This subwoofer is an excellent addition to the Polk Soundbar 50 I got. The bass really rumbles and fills the room. It is night and day without it. Transformers and Blackhawk Down sound very good with this subwoofer. The fit and finish are superb. The remote and presets are an excellent feature. The price is very competitive. I would definitely recommend this buy.

Shakes My Floor

(5 out of 5) by C. Publiski on Sep 20, 2008 (Yosemite, CA USA)
This is a great sub at a great price. All my speakers in my system are Polk Speakers and this sub is a perfect compliment to the others. The included remote is a great feature. It let's you find tune the volume and crossover from your favorite listening position. This particular sub is a bit much for my current location (shakes the room and probably my neighbor's room as well), but it will allow me to upgrade when I can.

Awesome Subwoofer

(5 out of 5) by The Saint on Aug 19, 2008 (Doylestown, PA, USA)
I had a hard time deciding what subwoofer to purchase since there are so many selections in the market. I use my system for both home theater and music and my components are solid quality but not the high end. I was hesitant to go the step up (price mostly) to this subwoofer but after having this subwoofer for 3 months, this product is awesome and I am glad I spent the money. The low sounds are amazing in both movies and music. I have 2 small children and was afraid of keeping them awake at night - there is no issue since it has various settings (such as night setting) and I can set the subwoofer for different times, music, etc. I highly recommend this subwoofer - it is a solid investment and such great quality.

Terrific Subwoofer!

(5 out of 5) by S. Tacy on Feb 19, 2008 (Pittsford, NY United States)
I have enjoyed Polk products for many years now. When my wife and I recently moved into a new home and I had a chance to get a new home theater system, there was no question that it would include Polk speakers. Polk's DSW PRO 500 subwoofer provides great, clear and punchy bass without distortion or boominess for my movie and music collection. I also recently purchased the Onkyo TX-SR705 7.1 receiver. The combination of Polk center, front, surround speakers and this subwoofer, all powered by the Onkyo can't be beat. Polk's PRO 500 is easily one of the best built and best sounding subwoofers on the market today, at any price. Get one....you will not regret it!
