BOSE Lifestyle V20

(4 out of 5) by T. T. Nguyen on Jul 8, 2009
This system is great for a medium size room (15' x 25'). But when I moved it to a larger room (30' x 40'), the sound is weak even at 100% output. Needs more power ?

Waited long time for let down

(3 out of 5) by Kenneth E. Long on May 18, 2009 (Dothan, Al)
I waited many years for a Bose system, just put in a V20, save your money, the sound is ok but nothing like the demo's. If I had to do it over I would stay with my old yamaha system. I am very disappointed with the sound both from my HDTV and CD's. Unless you get movies 5.2 you don't get the full sound. Save your money, you can get the same if not better sound from a much cheaper system.

You pay for the name

(4 out of 5) by G. Tober on Dec 16, 2008
I know I am paying more to get less, but what can i say? It's a Bose system. I am a true audiophile and very hard to satisfy. I settled for Bose, because they know how to engineer sound.

I am running the system using HDMI, and I have had the sound go out on me three to four times. I called bose tech support, and I am keeping an eye on the problem. I have no doubt Bose will take care of the problem should it continue. However the warranty is one year, and Bose offers no extended warranties. I suspect the issue is the subwolfer.

If you are using the Bose V20 to watch TV, then this is the way to go. If you are an audiophile like I am and want to listen to music, don't buy this system.

I was pleasantly surprised to receive my system in less than a week. It was in perfect condition and it sounds wonderful.

Video capabilities not great

(2 out of 5) by Anand Balasubramanian on Jan 7, 2008 (Seattle WA)
Audio:
I bought this system a month ago. The sound was ok, i have vaulted ceilings and so the surround was not that great. The sound was good for music, but for movies, the dialogues seem lost in the center channel and I had to increase the output in the center channel.

Video:
I have the Samsung Lnt-4669 tv, and it says it doesnt work well with older versions of HDMI. Samsung's version is 1.3 and bose is 1.2a. Using the HDMI capables, I got no sound. This was listed in the Samsung manual. I watched 24 through a progressive scan Dvd player connected using composite and the faces of the characters had ghosts whenever the camera moved. This did not happen if I connect directly. The non HD channels also looked better when hooked directly to the TV than through the Bose

Overall, for 2k I dont think it is worth it. I returned my set.
