Great product

This thing rocks. I have 16 of them. I've been buying them since 2004. I love them. I love that they keep getting higher in capacity, easier to operate, and cheaper, and they stay the same size physically. Great. I've never had one die on me, though a contract employee of mine says one of his died.

Great Drive

I bought this drive so that I could easily transfer large video and audio files between two pcs using a USB connection, and backup some other stuff. It has performed very well, to this point. The drive stays cool, is very quiet, and is relatively attractive to look at. I have not had any hitches or wait times wile streaming video from the drive. The blue LED on the front is almost annoyingly bright, especially in a dark room, but that's about my only complaint. It is blinding, if you look directly into the light--seriously.

I love the drive, overall, and I'll be buying another when this one fills up. The size, cost, appearance, and performance are all better than I expected for such a large capacity unit.

Watch out for faulty units

Unlike the Western Digital USB drive purchased a year earlier, this drive failed completely in less than 4 months. Worked perfect every day until it failed in the middle of the night on July 4, 2008. Now there is no spin up, just a buzz......buzz.......buzz........ This won't happen to everybody but in all the dozens of drives I have bought since 1989, this is the only one that failed after 4 months.

Iomega 750 GB Hard Drive

I am very pleased with this item. It took 3 weeks before I found the time to install it as a replacement for an older 375 GB drive that died. When I first installed the 750 GB drive on my desktop PC, I thought the new drive was not working properly. I had some problems copying approximately 40GB from the desktop to the new 750 GB drive. The new drive would simply turn off when I tried to copy folders more than about 10GB at a time (video files). But, I had been having problems with the desktop, and suspected the problem may not be with the new drive. I moved the connection for the new drive to my laptop. It has been connected to the laptop for the last five days, functioning flawlessly. It was very easy to install and appears to be working well.

IOMEGA HAS BEEN AROUND LONG ENOUGH FOR ME TO REALLY TRUST THEM

I can show you all of my old Iomega Zip Drive discs and drive. from ten years ago because they still work. State of the art at that time " OOOH Mega bites " I bought this drive to replace a failed "Eastern Analog" 500 gb hard drive that I'm still intermitently putting into the freezer for hours trying to recover the 300+ gbs of data I don't want to loose.
I should have trusted Iomega up front. I tried to save a little money but it's going to cost me double now.

Enough griping. My point is BUY A TRUSTED NAME !!!. My eMachines c6535 instantly recognized my new Iomega 750gb and it has been happy to store what files I have been able to recover from my half dead "other Hard Drive".
