Great sound, great fatures, great price
Before purchasing a new HTS, I spent a lot of time researching everything that was out there. I looked at all variety of HTiBs, individual components, and individual speakers, and before I ever saw this I had decided on the Onkyo TX-SR605 receiver and the SKS-HT740 speakers. Much to my surprise and pleasure, Onkyo had recently bundled the TX-SR605 receiver with the updated version of the HT740 speakers (now the SKS-HT750's), a DVD player, and an iPod dock. What really made this worth it was the fact that I would have paid the same amount for just those two components as I did for this whole package.
As for how it performs, I can only say wow. It is in a decent size den and it has plenty of power to blow the place out. I had never had the opportunity to listen to the system before I purchased it. I instead listened to the multitude of rave reviews for Onkyo's audio products, and I am glad I made this decision. Audio is clear and crisp, the sub is plenty powerful, and the receiver has an awesome feature set for the price. Sure, another HDMI input would have been nice, but for the price I certainly can't fault it.

Onkyo HT SP908 7.1
I purchased this HTIB from Amazon.com in Feb. 2008. I had it, along with a new Pioneer 60" Plasma TV, and a new Panasonic Blu ray installed Professionally. This set does everything I could ask. The seven speakers are very clear and with the powered wolfer included I get alot of sound. If you are like me, and don't have to have the best of everything, just something you can enjoy, this is the set you need to buy. The one draw back I can see is the receiver does get hot after using it for a long period of time.Amazon.com did a great job and shipped this package on time. It arrived in good condition and Onkyo packed it well.

Outstanding Audio and Stunning Video as well!!!
Having gone to demo after demo of multiple HTIB systems ranging from $200 to $2000 and making side by side comparisons of Audio and Video output using the same source disk, I have to add my recommendation to this system. The sound is outstanding in all aspects. For the price you are going to feel a great deal of satisfaction in what this product has to offer. Every positive thing that has been said in previous reviews is absolutely true and may I add one more small piece of information regarding the quality of his system.
The A/V receiver has a Faroujda DCDi Chip in it. This is technology that as of recent was very expensive and found only in high end equipment. Generally the Faroudja technology does incredible things to improve the image output of your DVD or other source. I took a 1080P 42" LCD TV with a Blu-Ray Disc player and placed a 1080i 55" LCD Rear Projection TV with the HT-SP908 System next to it. I played the same movie on both; one with a Blu-Ray player (w/Blu-Ray Movie) and the other with just a normal DVD player (w/standard DVD Mvoie) and the comparison was unusually equal, with slight noticeable differences of improvement in the Blu-Ray and 1080P TV mix. What I determined as I had individuals come in and review what was being displayed was that the Faroudja Chip did an incredible job cleaning up the image; the colors seem to be more vivid (very distinguishable) along with the image having more detail.
I am not going to say that the Faroudja technology surpasses the superior quality of Blu-Ray displayed on a TrueHD 1080P TV, but there is a noticeable difference in quality from normal DVD output and from my perception along with the survey that I took from individuals making the comparison, the Onkyo system brought the DVD image to about 90% the quality of the Blu-Ray/1080P TV setup. If you are not ready to buy a Blu-Ray Player and currently have an HDTV that supports 720P/1080i resolutions then the Onkyo System is an incredible buy not only for its Audio, but for its Video output as well. GET ONE and ENJOY!!!

Super Surround System
We purchased this system to replace a 20+ year old Sansui system. The setup was straightforward. The quality of sound is excellent for the price. I highly recommend to anyone looking to purchase a nice, quality surround system without paying more that $1,000.

Amazing system and I couldn't be happier with purchase!!!
I purchased the Onkyo SP908 for Christmas for $737 and I waited a couple weeks to review after having a chance to really test it out. I have PS3 hooked up via HDMI and this thing sounds amazing! I hooked up the system using the wires the system came with and it still sounds fantastic. The blu-rays played with uncompressed sound thru this system sound incredible. Watching movies like Pirates of the Caribbean and Black Hawk Down is like being in the theater, let alone watching it on a HDTV. Also the IPOD dock included is pretty awesome, you can control your ipod from the 605 receiver remote control. The speakers are heavy which is good; heavy magnets inside mean better sound...etc. however they are still small and easy to move around. The sub sounds amazing with a knob to adjust its strength. All in all, I couldn't be happier with my purchase and I give this system a 5/5 stars and would highly recommend it to ANYONE!
