Does NOT Carry Stereo Sound

When hooked into my cell phone and then with normal 3.5mm headphones connected to it, the adapter seems to only carry the sound through the right side. I tried a couple different headphones with the same result. The male portion of the objects seems to be a little to small for the phone, while the female portion seems to be too big for the 3.5mm headphones. I will be returning this if possible.
