Great for the Price

(5 out of 5) by howard haney on May 11, 2009
The Panamax protects your line in connections, i.e. cable TV or Telephone in addition to your device's electrical connection. For the money this unit gives you a great protection device. I did not see any noticable difference in picture quality on our Samsung LCD TV due to the filtering feature of the Panamx as opposed to plugging it directly into the wall but I feel much more secure about surge.

Home Theater Ready

(5 out of 5) by J. Dailey on Oct 6, 2008 (St. Louis, MO USA)
I purchased 2 of the PM8-HT surge protectors for my high definition TV's and surround systems. The Panamax units have both line conditioning to filter out noise and coax protection for your cable or satellite system. I read lots of reviews and researched the competitors websites before deciding on Panamax. They have the best protection for the best price and their warranty claim process can't be beat. Don't waste hundreds of dollars more on surge protectors that don't protect as well and definitely don't risk your expensive electronics on those $6 - $20 surge protectors.

Great protector at a great price

(5 out of 5) by ZTT Fan on Jul 16, 2009 (Louisville, Colorado)
This protector is perfect for protecting a home theater system with cable and/or satellite connections as it not only protects up to three sets of coax connections but also protects from surges on your phone line.

The outlets are very nicely spaced such that even most power adapter blocks fit adjacent to one another, and the outlets on the side work well when running cord tightly against a wall using a cord management system.

The unit also wall mounts very easily using the attached mounting ears.

All in all it will do everything you want a unit like this to do but at a much more reasonable price than many competing units, and it's a Panamax - perhaps one of the best regarded names in surge protection.

Quality Protection and Line Filtration You Can Actually See

(5 out of 5) by Blair on Jul 10, 2009 (USA)
I just hooked up this Panamax PM8-HT Power Line Conditioner and Surge Suppressor to my brand new Toshiba 26" LCD TV. The difference in improved picture quality was instantaneously obvious. Indeed, it's so much better that it's like a whole new TV. I was planning to return the Toshiba for a Samsung (more money) but now I am rethinking that.

Five minutes ago I was looking at a noisy, muddy picture (while hooked up to another brand's surge device) and now the picture is cleaner, the colors are better ... all around a better picture, much better. What a pleasure to see that your money can actually buy quality you can see.

Knowing the other features of this high quality device are comforting. It constantly monitors your power supply and will shut down your TV and other devices (protecting them) if it senses a brownout (a drop in AC power -- lower than your device requires) or if the power coming in is suddenly too high (a surge or lightning strike) -- both of which damage TV or your other home theater devices (DVD player, AV Receiver, etc).

Yes, this unique line conditioner/surge suppressor costs a bit more than other devices ... but it's worth it. Not only a better, cleaner picture awaits you but also longer TV and device life from the protection the Panamax will provide your equipment. (I had to buy my new TV because the power supply in my last TV blew out twice -- likely due to power drops and surges when the central air kicks on and off.)

I'm am sold on this high quality line conditioner and surge suppressor. It's a good investment that will pay dividends for years to come.

I hope this review was helpful. Feel free to ask questions or leave comments.

How to rate a passive device?

(5 out of 5) by Richard E. Emery on Jan 21, 2009
Well, it looks nice, seems well made, got good reviews, wasn't too cheap, nor too expensive.

It has yet to "save" my system ... and, that's good! Hard to rate a device whose function is to lay down its life so another may live. I can only assume it will do itself proud when called on to give up its life's blood (figuratively speaking).
