Awesome HDTV for a great price !!
This was way cheaper than corresponding flat-panel LCDs and plasmas from Sony. And unlike other projection TVs, this one has the Bravia Engine EX in it, plus it works with both 60fps and 24fps HD content. I bought it along with a PS3, and its worked out very well for games and blu-ray movies. This is one happy customer !!
This TV is fantastic
This TV is fantastic. My whole family is impressed and very happy with it. We would definitely purchase another and the price cannot be beat!
Great Surprise, Great picture
After browsing TV reviews for months, I settled on this model, and am very glad I did.
I am very impressed with the picture quality on regular Cable. The internal tuner picked up on 30 to 40 digital channels already bundled into my basic cable ( I had no idea ! ), and they look just fine ( no, I do not have HD upgrade, and probably will not be getting it either ! ). The regular analog channels ( 3-30 ) look rough, but decent enough. Even the sound is good enough for me ( and probably for most people ). And I was surprised to find 30-40 Audio-only Channels ! I could easily let the TV be on all day just listening to music ( not sure if that is a good use of the Bulb ! as I hear that it has a 3-4 year life span ! )
We watched our first movie - Tomb Raider - on it last night ( regular DVD on my old Sony DVD player ) and LOVED it. I am sure this is not as good as an HD-Blue Ray movie played on a Blue-Ray DVD player, but for me, this is just fine ! Besides, any better than this, and my kids would for ever be glued to the TV !
ABT delivered the unit in about a week, and it took a few minutes to setup ( no, I did not get the white-glove service, the basic delivery was just fine ). Beware that you need two people to lift the TV ( it is not heavy, just long ! ).
So far, my kids are in heaven. They even woke up early today and are glued to the TV ( one reason why I am not planning on an HD Cable upgrade ! - basic cable is plenty ! ).
I am very happy with this unit and would recommend it. In a few months, I will update it to let you know how it has held up.
Why do I post this ? I am grateful to all others who posted their experience with this and other TVs, which helped me make up my mind. This is my token appreciation !

You need to have HD cable, HD dvd player or hdtv's are not for you
It is really important for those buying hdtv's to know that you will need HD cable or this tv will actually make your regular tv reception look worse. The same goes for dvds -- you will need to upgrade to the hd-dvd or blu ray to get the kind of quality that you should expect from an hdtv. I was playing my dvds on my old dvd player and thought -- why does this look worse. This set also does not have PIP and does take up to 30 seconds for it to start. Once it gets going, it's like any other tv. This is not specific to this tv but to all hdtv's, it just so happens that I have this tv and am a little disappointed. I play hd-dvds and blu ray and they look great, but regular non-1080p/i channels, look worse, as does dvds with a regular dvd player that does not upconvert -- I confirmed this with sony themselves. this tv is a lot lighter than what you would expect from rear projection tv's. If you've got a big lots in your area -- they got a tv stand for 129 that fits perfectly -- why pay 400 dollars for a tv stand!
