Who would buy a TV from Amazon??

(5 out of 5) by Amanda Reckonwith on Feb 9, 2008 (NC USA)
Great tv. Picture quality excellent and much cheaper than LCD of same size. (As long as you dont want to hang a tv on the wall, why pay the extra. This one is quite thin anyway.) Enough inputs for me. My biggest concern was buying an item like this from Amazon. Sure, I use Amazon to buy books and other smaller items all the time, but a TV? Anyway a colleague had done so and had a good experience, so I thought I'd try. I was not disappointed. The shipping /delivery/setup went very smoothly.

Good product, Slow shipping

(5 out of 5) by John C. Notti on Feb 8, 2008
The TV I bought is great! It was delivered without as much as a mark on the box. The guy who delivered it was very helpful with off loading and even unpacking. He helpded me move it into place and waited until i completed my inspection was complete.

The Picture is fantastic! The sounds is even better than I expected. I may not have to add a sound system.

Shipping was slow, took 2 extra days because of freight company scheduling. BUT. It was delivered in great shape!

Great TV

(5 out of 5) by S. Paradise on Dec 31, 2007
This TV has a great picture, better than my Samsung 56" DLP.Stunning in cable high def, also very good pic quality on non hi def stations. Sound better than my Samsung. To previous reviewer who said the sound was so-so I don't expect it to be equal to an independent 5.1 system but it is still very good for a tv built-in.
I know Sony makes great tv's but was not willing to pay double for one. Picked up this tv for $1177 with free shipping and no tax. Was hand delivered to my door and setup by the delivery guys. They even took the box. I would highly recommend this tv, you will not be disappointed.

Outstanding 50" LCD tv at incredible price!

(5 out of 5) by Bennett S. Turk on Dec 20, 2007 (Albany, NY)
I have a Samsung TMX-3097WHF Hd-ready tv and I wanted to get a good 40" LCD tv for around $1000. I did not want Plasma, because it might have image burn-in. I read the reviews of LCD tvs at "Consumer Reports", and went to the various electronic stores that sell tv sets, when I saw this 50" tv on sale at Circuit City. I was amazed that anything that was so big, could cost so low. I looked at the reviews of the Sony tv at Amazon and they were all good. All 3 of them. Other reviewers at at sites also gave it positive reviews. "Consumer Reports" did not review this particular set, but, they did give a great review to another Sony rear-projection set.
I purchased the set, and after I got it, I hooked up a Time-Warner HD digital cable box, a JVC SA602SL Dvd player (which has no HDMI outputs), and a Regent HD-391 sound system. Wow! Standard tv signals are good, HD tv signals are amazing. The JVC sound and picture were wonderful, and the Regent turned it all into surround sound.
The bulb for the tv is supposed to last for around 4000 hours, then it burns out and a new one costs about $200. Also, there are rumors that Sony is going to discontinue their line of rear-projector sets. Get this one while you can. A 50" LCD set that is true 1080HP and only costs something over a thousand dollars. Incredible! I am going to be spending a lot of time at home. I cann't wait to see what a HDMI DVD player hookup looks like, as well as a HD-DVD/BLU-Ray player. I hope the DVD format battle is over soon.
