Plug and Play, Easy Navigation, Crisp picture, Varieties of connection
First, I would like to say that this TV is a beauty. It's easy to setup. It took me around 10 minutes to set it up which include opening of the box, moving away all the styro foam, hauling it to the TV stand and connecting it with HDMI cables.
Second, I have Sony PSP and this TV's navigation's is very similar to the PSP. Hence, in order to navigate through the menu is a walk in the park. In addition, short cuts on the remote is good enough for me.
Third, Crisp Picture (stripe test). I almost bought Samsung LNT4065F. The Samsung has a reflective screen which makes it look really cool + it makes it look like a plasma. However, when the store showed a man with stripe shirt on the both screens, this Sony TV could show the stripe without any difficulties while the some stripes were combined into 1 stripe on the Samsung. That when I decided to pick this Sony over the Samsung. Btw, I also compared this TV with Sony KDL-40V2500. Crisp-wise, they looked the same however the picture on the KDL-40V2500 is a little darker (the contrast is 7,000 compare to 16,000 on the W3000). However despite the contrast is only 7,000 in the V2500, it passed the stripe test as well.
Fourth, Varieties of input. This TV offers quite a variety of input. I have tried the HDMI, Component, Coax all of which yield superb pics. The HDMI yielded the highest quality of picture. I tested the TV with HD cable box with component as well with HD cable box with HDMI. The one with HDMI yielded a little better picture.
In summary, KDL-40W3000 is a easy to setup, to navigate TV with a high quality picture and has a good varieties of input. Enjoy!

One month so far
I've been living with my 40W series for a month so far and while I agree with the generally positive reviews posted, a few qualifications are in order.
1. The picture quality when hooked up to analog sources is worse than with an analog tv. This is true for all HDTVs, but be prepared for this. When I first set this TV up, I had it hooked to my Dish Network non-hdtv receiver and the picture quality was poor. Now I have a Dish Network 722 hidef receiver and the picture quality is excellent on the HD channels and very good on the standard channels. I also have an xbox360 with the hidef dvd player attached, picture quality is awesome on these. Just remember to set your xbox360 options to hidef output.
2. When the picture is relatively static the picture quality is awsome, however, this set like most all LCDs does not have a high refresh rate, so when there is a lot of movement on the screen you can notice a slight blurring. If this is not acceptable, go for a plasma.
3. The color pallete is outstanding, I have not seen more realistic colors on a TV. That said, you may want to fiddle with the color controls. I found the default set up to be a little over saturated color wise.
4. Appearance wise, this is the best looking tv on the market. I can't stand the glossy finish on the Samsung and other sets.
Overall a great TV.

Its a Sony alright
You really get what you pay for. I looked at the cheaper and lower Sony models and the resolution at 16000 is why I chose this one. I checked Best Buy and Ciruit City and they told me they match each others prices but can't compeate with Amazon. Worth the 5 day delivery wait saved $300.

Sony 40 inch LCD TV
Having a family room with one complete wall of windows, I was never able to watch a TV against the opposite wall. This Sony 40W3000 has a non reflective coating that has minimized relection and glare beyond anyone's expectations. If you're having similiar problems, I recommend you try this 40 inch or the 46 inch version (46W3000) for an exceptional HDTV picture beyond comparison.

A cinematic experience
The quality of the picture this display is capable of producing
is simply outstanding. The colors are clear and vibrant, and the
circuitry transitions smoothly from one scene to another. Esthetically,
the design of the set is elegantly simple, and functional. There are
plenty of alternative connections for now and the future. The sound is
rather mediocre, but pleasant enough if you simply turn the treble
down. Easy to read and navigate displays, and a lighted remote control
make this TV an excellent choice for anyone looking for advanced circuitry, and solid value in a flat panel television.
