Good value

(4 out of 5) by G. N. on Jan 28, 2008
Very solid TV for the price. The slow startup time mentioned here can be fixed through menu. It may be an energy saving feature to reduce standby power use. TV now starts up in a few seconds.

I am pleasantly surprised by how well SD (directv) looks. Of course DTV and HDTV look awesome!

Great Picture, slow to turn on

(4 out of 5) by Tarasso on Nov 17, 2007 (Austin, Tx USA)
Strangely, this TV takes almost 30 seconds to turn on. Once it's going - it has a beautiful HD picture. No noticable motion artifacts in high action shots, text is crisp and readable.

Minor issue with high contrast (black/white) seems like the tv couldn't decide how to de-interlace the detail - so the items (newspaper) kind of flickered. (not that noticable)

Upscaling non-hd sources was a little muddy, but still looks nice. Cable tv looks fine.

Tried it with a PS3, and some of the text (rainbow six-vegas) was washed out - I don't know if this was the PS3 scaling or the TV. Couldn't quite get the gamma down to show all the shades of grey correctly without getting washed out. Resistance - fall of man on the other hand was high-resolution goodness, and looks great.

The USB picture viewer shows pictures beautifully. The resolution is impressive.

excellant picture outstanding resolution surprised the price so low, however it does take about a minute to start up,and usb plug in is in the rear of the tv making it cumbersome to get to. but the picture is worth it.

Great TV for the price

(5 out of 5) by AKM on Jan 29, 2008 (France-USA)
Fiding the right HDTV was a taxing experience. I initially favored a higher contrast ratio (deeper colors) as opposed to the 1080p resolution (better resolution), but amongst many valid competitors (sharp Aquos, LG, Westinghouse...) the choice was eventually made based on the appearance of the TV, whose simple, square shape with little gloss does not detract from the viewing.

The picture is great, and the resolution difference can be noticed on video games running on 1080p (such as Xbox 360). The TV is a perfect size for our living room (sitting 9 feet from the screen), is simple to install and use, and yet has many features. The remote is a model of practicality, with easily accessed functions. A USB port on the side or front would have been nice, but is not a deal-breaker.

The TV takes a long time to turn on because of its energy-saving mode. If you don't mind paying higher electricity bills and polluting a little more, you can change this in the options menu. I just turn it on BEFORE getting my drink from the kitchen!

Absolutely Amazing!

(5 out of 5) by Matthew J. Waterman on Jun 8, 2008 (Cheyenne, WY)
We have now owned this television for approx. 1 month. So far, I have been far amazed by it. After looking at dozens of televisions and reading reviews, we finally decided to spend the extra money and buy a nice television rather than settling on a less expensive one. We have connected the HD cable as well as purchased a HD DVD player. I must say that the picture quality as well as sound with the HD is beyond what I would have hoped for. Even without the HD cable, the picture quality is still very impresive. I would GREATLY recommend this television out ther to anyone that may be looking for a great deal. This tele may not have a monstrous amount of bells and whistles, but it is a great deal! If you are in the market for a HD television for a good price...HERE IT IS!
