Intova Underwater Flash

(4 out of 5) by Jeffery M. Fikes on May 21, 2008 (Sacramento, Calif. USA)
I purchased this flash to accompany my Intova Camera for a planned dive trip to Honduras. The unit worked as expected. Easy to use with pretty good power economy. The flash uses 2 AAA batteries and I only changed them once during a 400 picture trip. The unit has 3 syncing modes and 3 power/intensity modes. The armature and mount are pretty beefy and I had no problems with them. The only down side to the unit was my inability to diffuse the light. I finally solved this with a white plastic bag and a rubber band. Compared to some other more spendy flashes I am very satisfied.

Helps avoid shadow of the camera's housing

(5 out of 5) by A. Wolf on Apr 10, 2008
This little slave unit helps overcome a shadow cast by the camera strobe when taking close ups when the camera is in the housing, and gives the camera a little more reach. A useful addition, but I did sometimes have trouble getting to trigger. It might be because I had the optical cable attachment attached which does restrict the standard back flash from triggering the slave.

Intova Flash

This product performed well during snorkeling shooting. Using rechargeble batteries and using fully charged batteries before each dive is recommended.

Works Perfect!

This unit works perfect with the Intova camera that I purchased with it. I do recommend getting the fiber optic cord to go between the flash and the camera though. It makes sure that you get a flash every time.

Very fast response from seller.
Lowest price found in the web.
Flash and housing are identical to Fantasea and Fujifilm models.
Only different in tray and arm configurations.
Actually the real manufacturer is "10bar" [..].
Solid construction.
Powerfull flash for its size.
Works very well with my Canon A70 and corresponding underwater housing.
Perhaps more experienced photographers would like to add a longer arm and tray to accomodate a focus light on the other side of the camera housing.
