A very solid product

(5 out of 5) by David Bauchelle on Dec 13, 2008 (Houston, TX)
I have set up a reasonably simple home audio system, with four separate speaker zones around my place. That means eight speakers, and ergo sixteen separate wires (one pos and one neg for each). This is the only product I could find that would allow me to organize all of that into two simple wall plates, neatly tucked into one dual-gang box with a Decora face. It's extremely streamlined and organized now, and works great. Plus the posts that accept bare wires or banana plugs are a really nice feature.

Thanks GLS and Amazon

Originally I was using Leviton snap in connectors, but they max out on 6 connectors for a single gang box, and I was double lugging one speaker (bad, I know). Then I saw these on Amazon. A clean look, and solid, though maybe not paintable.

Excellent Speaker Post Plate

I needed a connector plate to clean up the mess of speaker wires coming out of the wall from my surround sound system. This plate had a great price and is very well constructed. It was simple to install. I recommend that you label each post on the plate to the appropriate speaker location.

Good Value

The GLS Audio 6 Post Binding Wall Plate provides a Decora style plate for connecting up speaker wires. The bindings provide banana-plug compatible connectors or twist-lock connections. Back side using identical posts. Each post is color coded to east connections.

Strip half an inch of speaker wire, insert into the hole on the side of the post, and then screw down the post. The only negative about this the posts are so close together, you may need plyers to properly tighten the posts unless you have small fingers. If you take the time and expense to use banana plugs, they will work great without issue. Though, I am not sure if the distance between two posts are "standard" or not.

The big advantage of these is that they will fit standard decora wall plates. That means you can remove the single-gang plate from these and install them into a 2+ gang wall plate and box. Other, lower-quality units have a fixed wall plate which prevents you from installing them into a 2-gang wall plate.

As far as quality, they seem relatively sturdy and well built. Posts can be tightened without stripping; plastic components are relatively heavy duty and don't break easily; binding posts seem to be of high quality and will satisfy all but the pickiest audiophiles.

Nice product

This was the lowest cost 8 post wall plate that I could find. Space is a little tight when trying to connect 4 pair of 12 gauge stranded wire, but it works well. In this case, spending more money won't buy a better product.
