Good lighting eauipment for the price

(5 out of 5) by SunGal on Mar 12, 2008 (California)
I was pleasantly surprised with this equipment after reading other reviews. I find the light stands to be sturdy and the lighting to be adequate for fill lighting. One of the light switches failed after I turned it on, but the seller shipped a new one to me right away. This is perfect for a budget photography studio setup.

Great value

This is a great value for the price -- the stands are very sturdy (this was my biggest concern). The only problem I had was that one of the screws seemed to be stripped, but still a quick fix. The lights are a bit blue, so depending on what you'll be using them for you may want to pick up a couple of bulbs with more natural daylight. They also arrived very quickly, in about 5 days (and there was a federal holiday, it may have arrived sooner if not for that.) I would definitely recommend this product.

Looks Good

(4 out of 5) by cosmo on Jun 25, 2007 (around home)
I just got this light today, and for about $100 I am really pleased with it. Very sturdy light stands, heavy and sturdy spring, mounts, etc. But light enough and simple enough to move around and take with you, although there is no way to carry any of it, but for the box it came in. Shouldn't take more than 2 minutes to get up and set. Light seems fairly bright. It is quite blue/purple light, so keep that in mind when setting up your camera. And having the two lights is great for the different set ups you can do, and having the umbrellas makes even more options. Not to mention the two light bulbs thrown it!
I have yet to use this set up, but for the price and what you get, I am very happy with my buy.

Good Value

If you are like me and don't use lights very often, this kit is a good value. It's not as flexible as the more expensive kits, as you cannot dim them or install multiple bulbs in a single fixture, but if a single fixture at continuous level is what you are seeking, it's hard to miss with this.
The stands seem sturdy enough I won't have to worry about them toppling over or flopping around. It goes up at least 6-7', about as high as you might need to go for studio setting.
The fixture seems to be good quality with generous amount of power cord, at least 10'. The switch makes good contact (no arcing when engaged).
The bulbs are the right color temperature, though I replaced them with higher wattage, due to personal preference.
Best of all it folds up to be reasonably compact 32" x 8" dia. I store it in a bag normally used for a fold up lawn chair.
Combat Optical delivered promptly, kudos there. Well worth it.
