I'm a network engineer used to dealing with datacenter class equipment, so maybe my expectations are skewed...
The switch itself works ok. But this is supposed to be a "managed" switch with SNMP support. I expected to be able to graph the traffic of my switch ports. To my amazement, this switch only supports 32 bit interface counters. 32 bit counters were fine for polling every 5 minutes on 100 mbit interfaces, but they are useless at gigabit speeds. At 1 gigabit, the counter wraps back to 0 every 34 seconds, so 5 minute counter polling doesn't work (unless your traffic levels are low).
I haven't tested any of the other features really. I just use it as a normal dumb switch, but paid extra for SNMP/management support so I could see traffic levels. Since that doesn't work very well, I should have stuck with the unmanaged Netgears.

This switch replaced a 5 port non-smart (?) Netgear switch (GS105) and I like the ability that this one has to see and control better the traffic going through it :-) It helped me diagnose a network issue in minutes because of its capabilities :-)

Product is deployed @ home and is working as desired. I work in the enterprise network space and I would not recommend this unit for that space. But it is working great in my home network. The unit does have SNMP support and I manage the unit using free-software found on the web. I'm pleased with it's current deployment.

1. No SSL or SSH support. Clear text authentication only to the device... SUCKS
2. Sure it states support for 802.1Q, however there is NO TRUNKING support. You'll literally need to uplink directly to each VLAN in order to Route. USELESS
3. Support is horrendous. I contacted tier 1 w/ my question & they had no idea what I was talking about. They referred me to Tier 2 which is PPI! I hung up, called again for biz services & spoke w/ someone who had a bit more knowledge than the last tech but basically (after a lengthy explanation) confirmed my suspicion.
Although you get what you pay for, Dell has a managed, PowerConnect line which is comparable in price but offers more Enterprise Level features, including Trunk support. Netgear does take the lead w/ its unbeatable warranty but is lacking on several features which matter the most. Obviously not an Enterprise level solution & strictly for SOHO. Who gives a crap about VLAN support if you can't route over a Trunk.
If these features are of no interest to you but still require Gigabit connectivity, I'd lean towards the un-managed GS108 which is practically 1/2 the price.
2 thumbs up!

Excellent feature set, and while it can be a little cryptic to configure (RTFM!) it's an incredibly full featured switch for the cost.
