She stated she wanted speakers that sounded as good as her Aiwa shelf system to go with her new Mac. She was not happy with the old Altec Lansing speakers.
I researched and looked at many different brands. The controls needed to be simple for my wife, and we didn't want to spend a fortune. I was unable to listen to these in a store before purchase. I was very pleased, and more importantly my wife thinks they are great.
Only down side is Bass control in not on the Control Box, but on the Sub-Woofer. Our PC now has the best sound of all our stereo systems. Obviously we don't own any high end component systems.

Sound great, but unusable
(1 out of 5) by T. Ruddick on Feb 4, 2008 (Oceanside, CA)These speakers really do sound very good, but they are so vulnerable to RF interference that they're practically unusable. Expect loud buzzing if you plan to use a 2.4GHz cordless nearby, and the usual GSM interference if you have a GSM cellphone. Relocating the volume control and microphone unit helped a little, but I plan to take these back and buy something else.

I am totally dissatisfied with this product. Whenever on it hums which becomes extremely annoying. If I had kept the box I would have returned it. I purchased this brand because it was the same brand I replaced it with.

A great value

I've been very impressed with it, especially considering the price. Most modestly priced two-speaker sets lack either bass or clarity or both, but this 2.1 set delivers the goods at a very reasonable cost.
The design is desk friendly, as all components (two desk speakers, subwoofer, and wired volume control unit) are compact and easily placed wherever convenient. Most important, the subwoofer really adds the punch that typical two-speaker setups lack.
If you want more "oomph" for movies, music and games on your PC (or TV for that matter) but don't want to cough up big bucks give this set a try. You'll be pleasantly surprised at the good sound quality and solid bass response for the price.
P.S. I just received my second set of these speakers, having ordered another one for my television. Watched our first movie with them hooked up yesterday and I am very pleased. A major step up from the lousy built-in speakers on the TV, and at a great price to boot.

Impressed
(4 out of 5) by Roy K. Yamanouchi on Jul 23, 2008I was impressed with these speakers. Mids are good and plenty loud. I don't have to turn it past 50%. The bass is OK. I can hear it just fine, and it fills in where needed. Not overwhelming.
The only thing is that I thought this would have come with a separate input for the 2 speakers and the subwoofer. In other words, my mobo has outputs for a sub, but i'm not using it. Just one plug into the mains. Oh well. Who knows if that sub plug works anyway.
