It doesnt cool your laptop down AT ALL, all it does is shield your legs from the heat of the laptop.

Does its job, but some things to consider first

(4 out of 5) by L. Novik on Aug 17, 2008 (Davis, CA United States)
This product does its job - keeping my laptop from A) overheating so easily and B) cooking my lap when it is hot. However, it's not quite large enough to be intended for use with 17" screen laptops like mine. I use it anyway, but my laptop hangs over the edges and needs readjusting sometimes. Also, the top and sides are made of plastic, while the bottom is dense foam-like material; the problem lies in the boundary between the materials. The foam compresses, leaving you with a thin plastic edge digging into your leg. This is only and issue when sitting certain ways - with it and my laptop squarely on my lap being supported by both of my legs, it's fine. Overall, I'm still happy with my purchase.

Does the Job

The Xpad is exactly as described ... non-slip surface, eliminates heat transfer between my legs and my laptop, elevates my laptop to allow proper airflow...and it fits easily into my laptop bag. The product is stable without being bulky or heavy and it doesn't interfere with my unit's internal cooling system.

All depends

(2 out of 5) by a user on Dec 13, 2006
One of the rubber feet falls right under my processor and fan, so my laptop runs hotter on the pad than without. If I tilt the laptop so the fan is clear of the foot, it works fine, but its very awkward. Look at the bottom of your laptop, and see how its going to work out.

If the feet fall in a good position for you, this would be a good pad. The laptop does not slip, and the pad is durable and light.

Fits my thinkpad very well, there is about 1/4 ince space around the edge.
not heavy either.
