Does what i was looking for

Overall, I'm happy with the Pioneer bluetooth unit. I can use it for my Zune, make and receive calls through my bluetooth phone, and it automatically detects my phone when i get into the car. If i am having a conversation on my phone while walking to the car, i can get into the car and it detects the phone and switches to bluetooth use automatically and quickly, without the person on the other end of the line even knowing. I've also been told that there is very little background noise when driving and talking, so the reception is very clear for the person on the other end of the line.

My main complaint is that the pioneer system does not have voice-command dialing on its own, but only through the phone, and when in the voice-command mode it does not play voice prompts through either the car or phone speakers, but just shows results on the screen. In contrast, my inexpensive stand-alone bluetooth headset can prompt back through the phone speakers, which makes voice recognition really easy (e.g. it asks, "do you mean call John at work or John at home?"). I'd love to be able to do this through the car stereo, but the Pioneer bluetooth system does not initiate use of the speakers until the phone number is being dialed. (This means that i have to look at the prompts on my smartphone's screen while trying to do voice dialing -- as a result, i can't really use voice-dialing while driving.) It does have a speed-dialing option, but i haven't set it up yet.

My other major complaint is that I wasn't able to get the Pioneer unit to upload my Motorola Q address book. (In contrast, when testing in the store, the Parrot on display was able to upload my Q's information.)

It would also be great if one could upload one's own little animated movies to the screen.

I bought this for my 17 yr old. Easy to use and hands free phone works perfectly. Phone book transfer to the car took less than 10 seconds for 175 entries. Sounds great paired up with 4 Polk Audio 6x9 speakers. Professionally installed took 3 hours. No regrets.

malfunctioned, pioneer won't stand behind it

Product itself was OK when working. Spent more time referring to manual than I would have liked but otherwise OK. Problem came when it broke after 5 months. I took to dealer who sent it to factory for repair. Problem returned after only about a week. Pioneer then wanted to attempt to fix it again. I convinced them to replace it instead, but a month after they agreed, I still do not have the replacement. Appalling incompetence and indifference.
