I purchased this to replace a much smaller 8" sub. The quality, looks and sound are all fantastic. It's over 30 pounds, and well made. There was no information or instructions in the box, but I found them online at [...]
There are different connections for the signal in, plus there's an output so you can a 2nd sub in series with this one. There are also adjustments for volume and cut off freq., plus the usual phase switch - normal/reverse.

Tough to beat
Solid unit, fairly hefty. Nice touch the level, and frequency controls.
I was a little disappointed at first, not enough bass. Then I found out my receiver has adjustable bass out.
Dialed it up, very nice. This baby will rattle the windows!!

Sony Delivers!
Surprised Sony makes such great HTS speakers for the price. This bad boy can knock pretty hard without getting distortion. My living room is mid size I'd say, and it fills to room with nice crisp bass. Using a Yamaha (500 watt budget line) HTR which I highly recommend for a budget system as well. It may not sound as great as a polk, but your paying half the price so I'll let you decide on that option.
Sony has yet to disappoint me with there HTS line of products.

the cube
I have had this Sony subwoofer for about 2 weeks now and I really enjoy it. It has a decent range and good volume without the cone shaking like crazy. This speaker is used to supplement my Sony tower speakers (SS-F7000, also good speakers for the price). I have everything hooked up to a Pioneer receiver and after figuring out all the internal crossover settings, the system sounds great. There are dials in the back for volume control and frequency cutoffs, as well as switches for phase and automatic off.
What I don't like:
1. It's pretty big, even knowing the measurements, it was bigger than I thought it would be when I unpacked it.
2. No feet on the bottom
3. The automatic off/on setting is a little strange. If there is no strong bass input, it will never turn on, and if there is a long quiet part (about 2 minutes) in a song or movie, it will turn off. Annoying, but there is a switch in the back to turn the automatic off 'off'.
4. The low end of the frequency spectrum is a little too quiet, or not as loud as I would like it, but it's there.
All in all I think this is a good subwoofer for the price. I mainly listen to classical music but all genres sound great through this setup.

Good Subwoofer!
I have had the Sony SA-W3000 subwoofer about two months and I think it is an outstanding speaker. The lows are impressively deep and clear. The only con is the physical appearance is not that attractive, but overall I think I got a good subwoofer for the price.
