Whistler XRT
Bought this for my husband for Christmas as his old one had died. Thought it would be a great unit, but when asking him, he had several complaints. Seems with our vehicle being cold when you get in, it takes awhile for the unit to "warm up" and turn on. When it goes off when passing something (radar, electronic doors, etc.), it takes a few minutes of it not working before the light comes back on (the "H" for highway, etc.). Not sure what causes this, but it's annoying, as, by then, we could have passed another police car with radar. We'll be contacting the company about this.

3rd time not a charm
Bought this detector in December 2007. It has been back for repairs on two occasions for different problems. A third problem occurred this week. Into the garbage it goes. Save your money.

Useless
Unfortunately my wife and I bought two of these. I have used inexpensive radar detector for years. This is by far the worst. In fact it is useless. It goes off at a signal level of 9 out of ten, and then frequently remains going off without a cop in sight until you turn it off. Every time we pass a photo radar unit (truck), it goes of exactly 30 feet away from the truck and that's the only signal you get, just our own. It does not read the signals of the other cars that preceded you. It just shoots you only after a point that you will certainly get the ticket. Don't think I am inexperienced with radar detectors, I have used one since they arrived...this is true junk.

Save Money With This Gem
I purchased this little gem and am I glad I did. It has saved me many times the purchase price. It has good range and has picked up every car I have been able to spot. The fuzz is getting smarter so don't think that is a false warning they have just shut it off for a bit. :)

This is a winner
This is the second Whistler that I've owned with POP Alert and I'm very happy with it. In fact the moments after plugging in the unit and going for a drive I picked up an Austin Policeman clocking radar on the highway. No radar detector is fool proof, they're just for reducing the risk of getting a ticket.
