Future Customers, beware and read this...

Dec 12, 2007 - By Stephane Lefrere (Fremont, CA USA)

The new jWIN i1155 is a great portable DVD player with a wide screen and quality sound. It reads all kind of Divx and DVD's, no problem until this point. One of the main attractive feature is the claimed integration with Apple IPOD's.

Well read this...

The iLuv i1155 is NOT compatible with IPOD classic 6th generation (the 80 GB or 160GB new models). The video screen will stay blue while the IPOD movie is playing, you can hear the sound, but no video. After an hour of struggling with combination of settings on IPOD device, I sent a ticket to jWIN support. I have just received the pathetic confirmation from Jwin Customer support that IPOD 6th Gen are not supported by Iluv i1155. I luv it no more...

This information is written nowhere, at least not on any resellers websites. This non-disclosure of supported IPOD models is a clear breach in the advertisment. It might work well with earlier IPOD's but ... I can't verify this.

So if you intend to buy this player along with your brand new IPOD, think twice. I am returning mine.

so far so good

Jan 19, 2008 - By Andrew T. Schwartz

purchased this item not really sure on how it would perform. i was going to check it out with the intention of probably returning it. real glad i didn't. used it on an airplane trip and watched a full length dvd each way on battery power. my son and i plugged in and the picture was crystal clear. the sound however could have been better but it was adequate. we did use the subtitles to help us along. i guess if i had high quality, noise cancelling headphones, it would have been better. my 5th generation 30gb video ipod works surprisingly well. again great picture and adequate sound. the controls take a little getting used to but after you figure it out you are good to go. make sure you give it a full charge before using. purchased a small laptop case and protective sleeve for transport. this is really a fine versatile gadget and i would recommend purchasing if you want the big screen for dvd and ipod functionality. also, very compact because it remains closed and all you have is the 8 inch plus screen. does not need to be opened like all other portable dvd players. it has a built in adjustable stand for viewing. i am not sure about all the confusion on the latest generation of ipods but, fortunately, that issue does not affect me. if you are thinking about getting this, i believe you will be quite satisfied.

Great product

Jan 9, 2008 - By Johnathon Brereton Hubbard (FLA)

I bought this unit so I could play videos for my kids during a 20 hour car ride. It worked flawlessly with my 30gig iPod, and I was able to output the signal to two other video screens (you have to buy additional cables) so all three kids could see the movies. You can even scroll through your ipod content with the remote to pick the next movie (while the iPod is in the unit). We were able to keep all the kids occupied and no one had to get up and change dvds. The speakers give decent sound and the picture is very good. This is a very cool product.

Not Compatible with 3G Nanos Yet!!

Dec 14, 2007 - By Emily Mitacek

I have been having trouble finding a portable DVD player with iPod dock that is compatible with my third generation nano. This one says that it is, but I called iLuv to double-check and the adapter that will make the videos play on screen will not be available until February or March of 2008. They also said something like the models made before October 2007 are the only ones that will be compatible with nanos, so be sure to check that out before you buy this to run your 3G nano.

Delightful Surprise!!

Feb 8, 2008 - By Albert Neal Jr. (Rockville Centre, NY USA)

When I received this I did not realize how a large an item this was. Once I figured out how to use the various aspects of it, I really began to enjoy it. Beautiful picture large picture and the external sound was more than adequate. Of course, the sound quality is improved with quality headphones. My major complaints are that it is not an intuitive device to use right out of the box (a detailed quick start guide would have been extremely helpful) and I think a carrying case should be have been a part of package (I had to order it separately directly from the manufacturer). However, I really enjoy this product.

Bottomline...superior product for the price and quality!!
