I just picked this up for around $300, and you can't beat it for the price. It has more features than systems costing twice as much. 5 disk up-converting DVD player. FM tuner. XM ready. HDMI input and output. 6 speakers. Etc.
Just don't expect it to sound like a $2000 system. The audio is very good though.
Best bang for buck!
Stop reading right now if your are an "audiophile" as you shouldn't be considering Home-theater-in-a-box deals anyway.
For the rest of us I really can't say enough good things about this package. It has HDMI in/out with Farouja up-scanning, sounds good,is quite loud, has large subwoofer and is BLACK instead of ugly silver. Has 5-disk changer, USB host(very cool for playing mp3's or looking at pictures, an FM radio, and a full function remote. you can even import/capture a picture as a screen saver - fun!!
Nitpicks: No tone controls in 5.1 (has EQ presets in stereo) the speakers can wobble/fall if you don't mount them, and speaker wires are thin (who cares). I got mine for $200.00 out the door at Circuit City - what a deal. I shopped for 9 months and this is the ticket - BUY IT NOW!
Great sounding system with many features
Starting from the beginning, the product was packaged very well and easy to hook up. The speaker wires are color coded and long enough for placement in any part of the room. Having a 5 disc DVD player is great. Other than playing movies, I use the USB function the most. It reads my memory stick and plays all the music and movies I have stored on it. The only thing I wish for is shuffling of music tracks. Other than that, excellent system for the price.
Works great with that new HDTV + PS3
I just recently purchased the Samsung LNT4065F 40" 1080p LCD HDTV, and got this as a matching home theater. Opted not to get the HT-X72 or HT-X75 tall boy speakers simply for portability. I have the Sony PS3 hooked up to the TV via HDMI, and I have the digital optical out on the TV going into this receiver and the surround sound is great on Blu-ray and PS3 Games.
Great sound with good price
I bought this home theater hoping to downsize my old system and still have a great sound. I miss not having Bass, Treble, Mid @ Balance knobs on the receiver. I have to say the sound using a DVD is tremendous! Although, a music CD can't compare with my older system. Overall I am pleased to find out the reason I bought it for (Theater) is awesome.
