Sony STR-DG810 6.1 Channel Home Theater Receiver
Easy to set up. My only disappointment was with the HDMI out. You can not use an HDMI to DVI conversion cable. You will lose all sound if you do. To take full advantage of the new unit I'll have to wait until I buy a new TV.

A great buy for the money
I had a Pioneer 1015-TX blow up on me after only one year of service and their CS was the worst I have EVER seen so I went to Sony
This receiver is being used in conjunction with a Toshiba DLP TV,Sony 400 Disc DVD changer,Playstation 3,Motorola HD cable box, Klipsche S-2 5.1 speaker system with a 12 inch subwoofer......I couldnt be more thrilled.
The 3 HDMI inputs are great and the setup was simple with my Harmony Remote
The Calibration went fine and actually showed me an out of phase speaker that the Pioneer never detected.
The first DVD in was Transformers and just from the opening credits I knew I had made the right decision....the sound was MUCH better.
after enjoying that I put in a CD and cranked it up.......no distortion even at 70 (mind numbing loud)....
the only complaint I have is the lack of multichannel inputs for SACD.....it uses a standard red/white input for that and there is no real point then.
If you only have 5 or 6 speakers and have no intention or need for 7 channel then why pay for it....this receiver is fantastic
and UNLIKE Pioneer you know Sony will stand behind their product

Great Receiver!
Having recently purchased a new 42" HDTV and an upconverting DVD player, we realized that our older receiver just wasn't cutting it! So we decided to replace it, but realized that that we'd prefer a receiver with three or more HDMI connections to accommodate future growth. Nothing else in our price range had more than two, so we decided to purchase the SONY because it had three!
I had read a number of reviews of this product, and I was afraid that it wouldn't be a very good receiver... but it's excellent! It provides amazing surround sound and is very easy to operate!
