Works very well with my d200 so far, better than spending over $100 on some model. It does the job. Thanks.
Save your money and get this one
Why pay over $100 or even $70 for a simple shutter release? If you need distance from your camera, wireless capabilities, or still be able to set functions on the camera from a distance, then get a more expensive remote; it will be worth it. But if you are looking for a simple corded shutter release, save your money and get this one. Sure, it doesn't feel as sturdy as the more expensive ones; but how sturdy does a simple button have to be to make a shutter release? This one is just as good quality as the Nikon simple shutter release, but after using it several times I think it is probably better than Nikon's (I'm not a gentle person when it comes to remotes). It has worked perfect on my D300 in both my studio and travels, and fits comfortably in my hand. I use it for night shots (lots of night shots) and product studio long exposures. As an example, I used this remote to make most of the photos used on CompassRoseGeocoin.com. I could not have any camera shake when taking those photos.
Update: I ended up losing the first one of these I purchased after using it for several hundred photos (It was much sturdier than I thought). I wasn't too upset since the cost was so low, but I would have been livid if I were to lose one of those more expensive remotes. After finding out of the loss, I did more research to see if there are any new options for remotes; but this remote still seems to be the best value on the market today. Therefore I was happy to buy a second one.
Great inexpensive alternative to the factory offerings
Considering the price difference between this remote shutter release and Nikon's own somewhat overpriced offerings this is a no brainer provided it works. And it does! And why shouldn't it? This type of electro-mechanical shutter release really shouldn't cost an arm and a leg.
To be fair, the unit isn't as robust or solid feeling as Nikon's own, but it should work for awhile.
I'm using it successfully with a D200.
works just fine
I recently upgraded from a D80 to a D300 which I'm really happy with, however Nikon is getting a little to gready to ask sixty+ bucks for a simple shutter release. I tried this product for 1/4 the price and it works very well and feels sturdy enough to last. I've taken over 500 shots with it so far, including flash and bracketed exposure, and it focuses and shoots just like the shutter release on the camera, even feels the same. I'm completly satisfied.
It do what it should do, but it stop working
I use it and it was working good.. It's a shame it stop working, I use it three times and it doesn't work anymore , I guess is the bad design and the cheap plastic. I give it four stars couse when i rated it was still working, now I can't give one star.
The botton has two states you can first focus (in autofocus mode in camera) and then take the shot, It's made of cheap plastic, I'm still thinking the price is higth but you couldn't find anything cheaper.
It's a little dificult to put the connector in the camera.
Any way it's still a good option, it does what supouse has to do...
