I got this one from circuit city for $199. Here are the pros and cons:
1) Setup was very straight forward and simple
2) Sound quality was good and there was no distortions at high volumes
3) Integrated very well with my Samsung LCD Television and the same remote worked for both.
The cons:
1) The upscaling dvd player with HDMI output made no difference compared to my simple dvd player with component video cables.
2) When you play music, you cannot navigate your cd/dvd simultaneously. You have to stop what is playing and only then you can navigate through your music. This was a major pain.
3) The system takes a long time to load movies/music and even to open the dvd tray, it takes a long time (as long as 30+ seconds). Thats irritating too.
In the end I returned this to circuit city for a refund and am currently doing my research as to which home theater system should I be purchasing.
Very pleased for the price.
The system worked out perfectly for my bedroom. I use it maily for music and xbox with the occasional movie. The bass could be a bit louder in my opinion but it still has full sound just not heart pounding bass. My only complaint is that most of the setting are only accessible by the remote control, so take good care of it.
Overall i like this set and it is perfect for those seeking surround sound in a bedroom or small room. I would go bigger if you want it as a main home theater set up.
great first impression
i just bought this samsung home theater system today at circuit city for $150 off the black friday 2 day sale. the receiver/dvd player is very sleek along with the speakers. i bought this to accompany my ps3 and it works very well. 5.1 works with my DVD's, blu-ray movies, and video games. this product also features DivX which is pretty sweet. the pricing is very cheap, but don't have that make you think it's a cheap product. i would consider it high quality. i also tried the radio and it's very clear compared to my previous pioneer surround system that had staticy radio.
the installation is very easy and settings are user-friendly. samsung is a great quality brand. i also have a 7.2 mp digimax digital camera that i bought for really cheap when 7.2 mp cameras were pretty expensive a year or so ago. I think samsung competes by selling their products at a very cheap price compared to the pricing in the market at the time for products. it's a very solid product and still works strong. i also have a samsung DVD player and it plays well after 3 yrs of use, which is my bro's now.
you can't beat the price for even $199 with a 800 watt samsung home theater system. i highly recommend this product.
Very nice stuff
It's obviously not state of the art ....but it has exellent sound and came in a timely manner......decent versatility to the settings....for the price a real bargin
Very good system for the money
I had the Bose 3-2-1 system and was very unhappy with the sound and always not able to read disc. So I got this samsung system and love the way the sound fills the room with movies and cd's
