When it works, it's a nice TV
(3 out of 5) by Lilia on Nov 23, 2008 (Lansdale, PA)Less than a week after buying this TV in July 2007, it stopped working. The power light would come on briefly and then it would shut off. We returned it to the store and got a replacement.
Fast forward to today, Nov. 23, 2008. The "new" TV did the same thing, after having worked with no problems earlier in the day. Called Philips and they're covering the repair even though it's out of warranty, but it's still a major annoyance for such a big ticket item.

Directv HD box HDMI compatibility?
(5 out of 5) by R. Kinzig on Jan 17, 2008 (fl)Does anyone know if this TV has the same HDMI compatability problem when connecting a Dierctv HD receiver as the Philips 42PFL7422D 42" 1080p LCD HDTV? Several of the reviewers of that TV said they had to use the composite video connection to work with the Directv or Dish network HD boxes. Other than the ambilight feature, these two TVs appear to tbe the same, but no one mentioned a problem with this model. Thanks

(4 out of 5) by Daniel Wivell on Jul 14, 2007Just bought this TV and think it is great. Picture looks amazing but as this is my first HD not sure how valuable my opinion maybe. The "Ambilight" makes watching Tv a new and cool experience. I Have had no problems so far.
