Not what I had hoped for
I bought this item primarily to play MP3 discs with talk radio on them, so I was hoping that this would have many of the features of most car MP3 units: such as turned-off place keeping, ID3 tag read capability, and folder navigation.
One large inconvenience is that there is no possible way to keep your place, as it does not remember where it was upon being shut down, and there is no timer! Even if you were to use a stopwatch, you would never know where you were on the "track" because it does not keep a running timer. People who just plan on listening to music may not find this as disagreeable. It does not read ID3 tags, or display the title or any other information of your MP3 files. In addition, it even does a mediocre job at performing one of its functions that it was marketed for: reading USB flash drives. It will read them, but depending on how you have the drive organized, it may give you a hard time. For instance, if you have a folder within a folder, it won't read anything in that folder...and if you have an MP3 file outside of the folder, it may just play the one file and skip over everything immediately after it, including an entire folder or two. It also seems to have trouble playing music that is next to any other type of file, such as a document or pictures. This is all very annoying, and seems to necessitate that you have a flash drive entirely devoted to meticulously organized music in order to have it play on this device properly.
There are only two positive things I can say about this device, hence the two stars: it does indeed provide decent folder navigation, although as previously stated, it is very bad at reading folders if there is any complex information on the drive, such as folders within folders or MP3 files outside the folders. It also is excellent at reading MP3-CDs. It requires about a ten second startup, but after that, no matter how large the CD, it processes everything very quickly.
Pros:
1. Excellent MP3-CD navigation and speed.
2. Includes folder navigation.
Cons:
1. Does not keep place after being shut down.
2. Doesn't even have a running timer to keep track of how far you are in a song or radio show.
3. Does not read ID3 tags or display any MP3 title information.
4. Has very frustrating folder limitations (see above description).

Don't waste your money
This product is a piece of junk. The speaker in my wristwatch has better audio sound quality than this boombox. The maximum sound level is very poor. There is no Boom in this boombox.jWin JXCD561 Portable AM/FM MP3 CD/MP3 Boombox With Memory Reader
