SATA Drive

Jul 19, 2007 - By OXCOM (Oxford, MI United States)

What can I say, it works. I plugged it in, and it was recognized at boot up, and works like a traditional IDE. I have no idea if it's faster, smarter, or whatever, but it freed up an IDE port for an additional hard drive.

Excellent drive.

Aug 26, 2008 - By N. Holloman (Leeward, Hawaii)

Positives;

1. The default bezel for the drive is black unlike product picture. Comes with beige bezel but you have to attach it yourself.
2. It comes with a red sata cable, not L shaped.
3. It burns dvd single layer quietly compared to last liteon burner.

Negative;

1. Comes with really crappy Nero Essentials software that makes you purchase mpeg encoder/decoder.
2. Nero software sucks to begin with.
3. The manual for the drive is for IDE version and not SATA version.

Incredible format variety but

Jul 16, 2007 - By Alan Duquette

I guess for the price I should not be surprised it is breaking down after 3 months. The dvd region change count is decreasing even though I have never changed it. It starts at 5 and it is now at 2.
Also I changed video cards and now can no longer watch commercial dvd movies.
Tried all players like power dvd, real player, nero 7, windows media player.
They say there is no disk in the drive.
I assume this is the same drive as LH-20A1S because there is no model number on this page.

Needs some help -

Sep 12, 2008 - By William Kellogg (Virginia Beach, VA, USA)

Didn't burn w/Nero 8 and any DVD's I have (DVD-RW, DVR-R [HP]). Other units I have worked fine. Does read DVD's & works for ripping movies. Still working on possible updates (bios, etc.).

DVD RW CDROM

Jul 24, 2007 - By Michael H. Shimanek (Fort Worth Tx)

This product works fine. The last DVD CDROM you sent me would not work on my slower PC. So it was a crap shoot to find out if this latest one would work, it did. You need to put in the description of the item what type of machine that it will work on. Also the install instructions might as well been non existent. You didn't tell me how to install the HP Drive on an HP PC.
