Unit arrived DOA.
On April 4th (ish) I wrote:
The specification for this TV is fantastic, however I wouldnt know what the picture looks like, the unit was dead straight out of the box (OOB).
The failure mode is that the unit powers on, the display lights and the menu shows. After about 10 seconds the unit powers off and the power-LED flashes about once per second.
Update on May 7th:
A few people commented upon the fact I was reviewing the shipping co. that isnt the case - the point I am trying to make is about Sharp service and response, the total elapsed time from unit failure to resolution is likely to be 5-6 weeks, so far the TV has spent 3 weeks in the repair depot.
The unit has now been declared dead by Sharp and I am going to be sent a replacement (another 7-14 days). Root cause for failure is still vague.
I wrote this so people can benefit (or not) from the experience of an OOB failure and resolution. If I had read comments about failure/response time before purchasing my unit I would have considered my purchasing options more carefully. Complex electronics will fail, thats a fact of life, so repair/service is important.
In summary: 1 star for customer support/repair and product reliability, balance that against the other reviews for picture quality.
