I love this TV!!!

(5 out of 5) by Mark Fox on Dec 11, 2007 (Liberty Lake, WA United States)
I bought this TV the last week of November, and have had it for about 2 weeks. The picture was phenomenal, right out of the box. I'd give this 5 stars, based on the following:

PROS:

* VERY nice picture. Watching NBA and NFL was like putting on glasses for the 1st time. I immediately noticed details that I've never seen before...and this was just on a 37" TV! I've already had 2 friends buy one of these after coming over to see mine. I can't get enough of the Discovery Channel's HD offerings! I loved them before, but they are night-and-day better in HD!!!
* GREAT console. The TV fits nicely in my living room, and has a very attractive black casing.
* VERY nice picture. It' SO good, I needed to mention it twice!!!
* EASY set up. The TV is packaged so that you can fasten the base onto the TV without removing it from the foam bumpers. This prevents the screen from getting scratched while (alternatively) lying it on the floor during installation. Great packaging!!!
* NICELY laid out jacks. The TV has 2 HDMI and 3 Component jacks. One jack has an S-Video-In which takes priority over one set of Components. The back of the tv is indented and has 2 clips that nestle your input cables and channel them to the lower back-center of the TV. This will help reduce the clutter behind your TV.

CONS:

* Sound. As mentioned by other reviewers, the sound isn't anything special. Of course, you'll probably be hooking a TV like this up to a receiver...but if you don't, you won't be overly impressed with the audio.
* Volume. In a less than ideal environment,(i.e. dishwasher running in the background, spouse talking in the other room...) the max volume setting seems a little low. Again, this is solved with a receiver, but I would have liked a higher max setting.
* No side inputs. The gaming version (appx $200 more) has a special gamer-setting, and includes a side input. I can' imagine that they cost that much, and I feel that at least ONE side-input should have been standard...

I love this TV!!!! I don't know how I put up with standard definition and my old CRT TV!!! I can confidently recommend this TV to you!!!

On a side note, I bought this TV over the 780p model. In case you're wondering, 'yes' you can tell the difference between 1080p and 780p on this TV! Pay the extra couple hundred and get the 1080p!!!

Also, I plan on using this TV for occasional gaming (Halo 3). If you're looking for a TV PRIMARILY for gaming, I'd suggest going down to the 32" 1080p version (LC32D62U or LC32GP1U-gaming)

Best 37" LCD HDTV

(5 out of 5) by Thomas Moore on Sep 18, 2007 (Oak Ridge, NJ)
It's the best performing 37" LCD HDTV available today. It delivers highly detailed, extremely clear images in 1080p with the deepest blacks and accurate color.
Have owned it for three months couldn't be happier.

Price, Performance

(5 out of 5) by Z. Alexander on May 1, 2007 (Texas)
I got two of these and both arrived NOT DOA. I was a little worried so I opened the box, removed the display and power cord and plugged it in to test. I didn't even unwrap it completely. Picture looks great especially for the price and size. I can't believe how light weight these are. I was able to easily mount with an articulating mount by myself. Are there better displays? Yes. For the money? Doubtful. This is a fantastic bargain.

Dead within 2 weeks of arrival! Terrible customer service & warranty. Go buy a TV in a store!!!

(2 out of 5) by N. Aoun on Aug 13, 2007 (Boston, Ma)
The unit was working great. I can't deny that the image is wonderful and the unit is estetically very nicely done. Two weeks later I turn it on, the sound comes out but no image! The screen lights up a little but still is black. You can go up and down the channels but only the sound will change. Even the drop down menu does not show. Nothing!!!! Turned it on and off 10 times! Unplugged it; still no life.

Called Sharp: 35 minutes on hold including Three Transfers from one agent to another. Finally a nice gentleman replies. Seven hour later a company in my neigborhood calls. They want to pick it up and fix it. They only pick up FROM THE GROUND FLOOR!!! AND MON-FRI 9AM-5PM. Then it might take she said up to three WEEKS!

Four weeks later, I call the repair store and they tell me that it will take at least one more week (very erratic excuse), I call Sharp to complain, the Sharp operator calls them directly and tells me to go pick it up in 2 days go Figure!!!!

The TV now is working but does not pick up anymore the signal from the the Apple laptop through the HDMI (or whatever you call)jack. It says "unrecognizable audio signal". Audio???

Anyway, I learned a lesson, Best Buy, Sears, Cosco are the way to go!!!! Don't get me wrong Amazon is great, BUT the return policy is costly, they shipped from ACE in New York City and those people will never take the TV back!!!

An exceptional TV and big screen monitor wrapped into one!

(5 out of 5) by N. Williams on Jun 26, 2007
This TV is AN AMAZING VALUE! I seen and watched several brand of LCDs for a good while before picking this one. This TV is just gorgeous to watch. I noticed on other sets that dark area often become lost in black because of the less than black tone of the rest the screen even in some of the latest sets like the Samsung 42 series. This TV does a great job of maintaining the dark details. It's not perfect but it's better than most I've seen. The response time it really good too. It truly is noticeable clearer when tracking fast motion on the screen thanks to its 6ms response time. I feel like I got the best set for the money because it's the most balanced and pristine image out there. The image doesn't look overworked, oversaturated or just plain overdone like other sets. The picture is natural and clean.

I also use this TV as a secondary monitor to view videos from the internet on the big screen. It strides as a PC monitor as well. I plugged my computer into the TV via DVI -> HDMI at 1920x1080p which is the native resolution of the monitor and it matches the picture up at pixel by pixel scan. There seems to be little to no added processing to the image. Text is extremely sharp and the motion is as good as any monitor I've seen except bigger and better.

I truly love this set and for the price you'd be crazy not to check it out!
