I wouldn't recommend these headphones to anyone. I've gone through two pair of these and both crapped out on me. The first pair, one of the wires shorted out on the left side of the headphones in about a week after I had them. I thought I just had a bad pair, and went and purchased an new pair (I get these for about 7 bucks with my connections *wink wink*, so it was no big deal for me). On my second pair, which lasted about two weeks longer, one of the headphones is shorting out again, and this time the speaker on the left side fell off (the back part is still on there, but the speaker is being held by some red and green wires from the rest of the headphones). Keep in mind I've been very careful with them (not allowing the wires to be caught in anything, not tugging the wires real hard). The speaker still works though, but it just looks like trash now. I really cannot recommend these headphones, unless you just need a pair. The compnay that sells these generic in-store brand (names are witheld to protect the "innocent"), needs to let Dynex know that they need to make some better headphones to accompany the listener. I like the fact that it folds inward so you can place in a bag for travel, but thats all that it's good for. So far, Sony headphones have been on point so far, so I may stick with those (may give Phillips another try though), but avoid these (unless you can get these for less than 3 bucks). Trust me, they don't last long.
Also, has anyone had a problem with volume control buttons falling off from the control part on the cord? I have on both headphones (once the volume and the other the stereo/mono selection button). I really don't have a problem with that, but that is just an example of how durable these things are. Peace.
Definitely worth $20.
Comfortability - 8
Sound Quality - 9
If you want the bigger, over-the-head style, headphones and don't want to pay a lot of money, these are perfect. I got them for $20 at BestBuy, so you know you'll find a similar price at most stores.
Poor base response - not worth the money
I purchased these at Best Buy for about $40 and assumed I was getting a decent quality pair of headphones - I wasn't expecting high-end sound quality. What I have is a pair of full size headphone that sound worse than the earbuds that came with my MP3 player. The base response is very poor which makes, say, a piano concerto sound tinkly. Not only that but it sounds like the high end is distorted and instead of CD quality it sounds like an FM radio.
I even tried them on my comuputer speaker's headphone jack and still found the results disappointing. I'm not an audiophile but I could readily tell that these headphones aren't very good.
I don't recommend them.
Excellent headphones for the money.
Bought these headphones for use as with a guitar amplifier and they sound better than expected.
The low price makes them well suited for use as studio monitor headphones, if the guitarist breaks them you aren't out 200 dollars.
Wouldn't recommend them for professional DJ's or vocalists, but for mono instruments they work very well.
Very poor sound
I bought a pair of Philips behind the neck headphones and I had to trade them in. These were the only other pair they had that weren't the in the ear kind. I figured for $20 I'd get a decent pair but when I put them on they sounded horrible. There is pretty much no bass response so everything sounds like it's coming through a broken pair of speakers. I've only had them for like 10 minutes and I'm going to trade them in and hope I can get something better.
