Since my NetGear WLAN router comes with a fixed antenna, I chose to replace the small antenna on the desktop side with this antenna.
When the antenna that was supplied with the PCI-card was used, the average bandwidth used to be around 5.5 Mbps and the Smart Wizard that came with the card used to indicate a signal strength of 2 out of 8. Wireless connection completely failing was a common occurence.
When the TERK antenna was installed, with the sharper side facing the wireless router, speed improved to around 36 Mbps and signal strength to 5 out of 8.
The real surprise came when I rotated the antenna 90 degrees so that the flat surface of the antenna was facing the wireles antenna. Now the bandwidth improved to 55 Mbps and signal improved to 6 out of 8.
Wireless connection does not drop anymore.
Deducting 1 star since the product is not omni-directional as indicated :-)

My husband was getting a weak signal and sometimes no signal at all on his HP desktop with the very basic external antenna that came with it. Plugged this Terk WF-O antenna in it's place and now he's getting an excellent signal that doesn't cut out. No software to install, just plug it in. I'd give it 5 stars, except that it's cable is very short and we're going to have to buy an extender.
