I bought this because it said there is a Cassette player, but there isn't so I can't play my old tapes. The CD and radio are simple yet effective. I would recommend or gift this to a friend.
Sony
Excellent stereo. This was the second one I purchased, one for home and one for work.
Great stereo
For the money it is a great system, not real pleased with the looks of the speakers, but the sound is great. It takes a while to figure out how to use the remote to change stations, but the remote is handy. Would not hesitate to recommend the system. The system arrived sooner than Amazon said it would.
A GREAT Value
I purchased this stereo for my father who loves music but is not tech savvy. It will take a week or so to get him familiar with the remote (which could be more intuitive) but he is delighted with the sound.
The speaker wires are too short to place the speakers very far apart, and the wires are attached to the speakers internally so that replacement would be difficult, but this is a shelf stereo and it will easily fill a room with rich sound.
There are four EQ settings (Flat, Rock, Jazz and Pop) which should satisfy most ears. "Pop" sounds a bit "tinny" but it would probably be fine for that genre. "Rock" and "Jazz" have a very strong bass, but "Flat" is perfect for Classical which is what this unit will be playing. The tone range is incredible for a unit of this size.
Speaking of size, the stereo itself has roughly the same dimensions as a PC tower. This requires a shelf or table that will provide about 17 inches of space from front to rear, but the width is narrow enough to fit in fairly small spaces.
The appearance is modern, so it doesn't blend in with antiques too well, but it is attractive.
Based on one day's experience I recommend this stereo whole-heartedly!

Great!
Great stereo, the sound is perfect and volume can go quite loud. The price is also a great deal. Love it!
