I just purchased this burner to replace my NEC burner that quit reading and writing to CD's. After doing quite a bit of research, I settled on this bare bones model by LG. The reviews on other sites for this burner were great! This drive works with DVD +/- r and rw and also with DVD Ram and dual layer discs. So far I have only burned 2 discs....one DVD+R and one dual layer DVD+R. It is a very quiet drive...and it burned these two on the first tries.
This doesn't come with any software, since it is a bare bone bulk drive, but I didn't need the software anyway, as I like my burning software. Buy this drive if you want a good brand name and a reliable drive.
