Good computer
I use this very good looking computer to write e-mails, create documents in Microsoft, play music, DVD's and download pictures from my camara. I am a professional adult so i have no time neither interest on playing games in a computer, so i cannot give you an opinion about that part. I bought it 4 months ago, and now i am buying another one for my sister. So far, it has been perfect for what i need it. The Toshiba service is much much better than the HPservice. Although Vista is sometimes a pain in the neck, if you are not an impacient person, after two phone calls your computer will run fine. So don't freak out as I did. haha. The screen is beautiful, it is light for being a 17", and people stares at it when I use it in public places.
I hope my review was of any help for you today ;)

Superior Quality Product
This is my very first laptop purchase off the internet and I'm quite pleased with the result of my research on Amazon. The reviews and all the product information were accurate. The widescreen panel is simply amazing and very impressive. The sound quality is the best so far compared to many other laptops I've used. I use it for playing my favorite online music and watch a lot of internet TV. Overall, I highly recommend checking out this product.

Really unhappy
I loved this laptop, great LCD display, good sound, but in the last five months (I've only owned it for 2 year 8 months now)I've had to replace the LCD screen, several of the USBs don't work effectively, and my sound recently went out. Computer place says I need a new hard drive. I believe them since I can troubleshoot many issues myself and I couldn't see anything wrong with my sound devices. Oh yea, the battery is a goner too, this also became an issue several months ago. I must keep it plugged in at ALL times or I have no power.
So, I paid almost 1000.00 for this piece of garbage just over 2-1/2 years ago. The LCD replacement cost me 250.00, the diagnostic on the hard drive issue cost me 70.00 and now the new hard drive will/would cost me another 250.00. The battery would be another 95.00. Do the math, I might has well have just bought a new computer. If I had known this was going to happen I would have back in March when the issues started cropping up.
I really loved it when it worked, but I feel like I've paid a heck of a lot of money for a short-lived laptop. I'm thinking about replacing the hard drive myself, gotta get some use out of this new LCD display.

OK but annoying keyboard
Including work, this is my 4th Toshiba notebook and this is the first one I've regretted having. The right shift key is small and poorly located compared to the inverted "T" direction keys. Both Control keys are located "off" from other notebooks. It's been in service for over a year and I still haven't gotten used to shifting from at my desk with a USB dock to a real keyboard to the onboard keyboard on my lap. Three of the keys have become unreliable; that is, I press them but they don't register.
Definitely bump the RAM up to 2Gb, especially if running Vista Aero.
My teenager runs a wide variety of games on it without performance complaints. But there's no way he'll take this to college, as lugging 7+ pounds, 9+ including the adapter, all day is a non-starter.
