Boss Car Stereo Very Poor
I purchased this unit from Amazon and it has been in my vehicle for 2 days out of 40. The remaining time it has been either in transit or being repaired. The front panel display goes blank after my vehicle sits in the sun for a few hours. I got the privilege of paying Boss $25.00 for shipping fees to return this piece of junk for repair. Why should I pay for a product they didn't design well and did not repair? Any customer who buys a product, puts his hard earned money into it, should NOT have to pay to ship it back when it does not work. That's THEIR responsibility. Yes, they sent it back to me "no trouble found". Well, it got sent back again (9 days ago) and I haven't seen hide nor hair of the unit since nor has Boss called to update me. Stay away from Boss products and Amazon, stop carrying their products. I'm $170 out of pocket with nothing but a gaping hole in my truck dash where my factory radio used to be and worked for 10 years just fine. I should have went with a well-known brand. Ron Lines

Works, but has lots of issues
This is actually the second Boss stereo that I've bought. The other one was a different model, but it works great in my brother's car. I was excited for the bluetooth and that works great. Calls come in and play good over my car speakers. As for the USB, every time I play something using the usb, it gets a high pitched frequency that is audible whenever it switches tracks, which it seems to do sometimes in the middle of a song. If I use a cd, no high pitched frequency, no random song changes. Also has the problem where if it's left in the sun, the display stops working. Just not a good product. If you think you can deal with these defects, it does play cds fine and the bluetooth works good. But if you want something that just works, look elsewhere.

Don't even think about it !
I bought this deck from Skybox. The first one came and I paid to have it installed, only to find out it was defective. Boss was no help at all and were even rude when I called to get some advise. I called Skybox and the person there was helpful in getting it returned and ordering another deck. I paid to have it uninstalled and waited for a week to get the new deck. Guess what ? I paid to have it installed, it too was defective. I had to pay to have it uninstalled and get another return ticket. No one could help with the costs of taking them in and out twice. I now have a hole in my dash and I am waiting for the refund of 2, yes 2 decks.
My advice, buy local and have it installed there.

so far so good
well i cant say too many bad things about the boss 638ba unit i got the other day. i have only had it installed since friday 6/27 but it hasnt given me any problems. the bluetooth works fine and i can hear the caller through all speakers, not that that matters, even if it was just through one speaker that would be fine. i havent tried to adjust the volume with the bluetooth remote, but i will soon, i only make short calls anyway so that isnt a big deal either, people i have spoken to say they can hear me fine.
the usb works great, plug it in and it plays. the search feature for mp3 files (usb or cd) takes some learning to figure out, but overall not too hard to find the tracks you want to play.
the display is decent, not too bright, not too dim. the buttons feel a little mushy or that if i push too hard i might break them, but they are easy to find and once you learn where they are you should have no trouble at all. the remote could use more features, like searching still requires you to go back to the head unit to turn the rotary dial, but it does its job.
sound quality is only slighty better than stock, but once i get an amp and new speakers i am sure that will change (i hope).
i bought this unit for the features and the price. there just seems to be no bluetooth enabled decks with usb in the front that can play mp3 files for under 200 bucks. i hope the old adage of "you get what you pay for" doesnt hold out to be true. so far the only complaint i have about this unit is that the clock does not display all the time. i can click the disp button to see the time but it goes back to whatever is playing. should be someway to get the clock to display all the time.
