Useless design

(2 out of 5) by dalepres on Jul 26, 2007 (Park Hill, OK United States)
When I ordered this 6 days ago, there was only one review and it was 5 stars. Had I waited, I would have already known that the cord is too short to be useful for anything. Even on my laptop. because of other cords close to the USB jacks, this would be a real pain.

It comes iwth a 1 inch cord that has a USB connector on it. The cord tucks neatly into the bottom of the hub when not in use. When in use, it doesn't give you any option of where to place the hub because the cord is so short.

I had hoped for a USB -A to -B cord so I could use the hub to extend the USB ports from my server in the pantry-turned-server-room into my office. This is not the device for that.

By the way, this is a powered hub that comes with a power supply. The rating label says 5 volts at 2 amps. Yet the power supply doesn't appear to weigh more than 2 ounces. And even with the power supply, this hub will not power my 2.5 inch portable USB disk drive yet the USB 2.0 connections on my PC will, as expected and as designed, power the drive.

Maybe I was being too kind when I gave this 2 stars.

USB Hub

(5 out of 5) by Dencil King on May 15, 2007 (tampa, Fl)
It has saved me a bunch of wires running back annd forth, I do video edit and I was constantly plugging in and unplugging USB wires for hard drives, flash drives etc. Now it is all always connected

USB hub

(4 out of 5) by Silvia Corbera on Sep 19, 2007 (USA)
It seems good. The only problem was its very short cable, which meant I had to spend more money to get a USB extension cable. It wouldn't necessarily be a problem for a laptop, but for a desktop it raised the cost of the hub.

Excellent product

(5 out of 5) by Curious Shopper on Jul 31, 2007 (Dallas, TX)
This is a great little hub. Compact and really sturdy. It comes with a power supply, but I never really needed it. It powers my portable hard drive, my mouse and other peripherals with no problems.

The cord is short, but I believe it was meant for laptop use anyway, so it works out perfectly for me.

I plugged it in and it ran 4 USB items. Just like it is supposed to.
