Panasonic KX-TG1034S Dect 6.0 Cordless Telephone

(4 out of 5) by MM on May 18, 2007
Product was easy to set up & get functioning. Arrived exactly as described. Features are close to what I was looking for, however some operational differences from my old cordless phone. Phone doesn't seem as intuitive to use as my other was, yet that could just be getting used to it. Tone quality is good. Range is still less than desired, the only significant drawback in my opinion.

Very Short Range

(1 out of 5) by A M on Dec 19, 2007 (San Rafael, CA)
The good reviews outweighing the bad, we thought this ideal for us. Being of senior years "bells and whistles are not what we need", but the idea of having four separate phones on one jack was appealing. The two placed upstairs worked well but the two downstairs were useless. Much interference and then the call was dropped. The long range boast is, for us at least, totally incorrect. Very disappointed in this product.

Totally satisfied with these phones!

(5 out of 5) by Deanokat on Dec 20, 2007 (Michigan, USA)
I've had these phones for a month. I have nothing bad to say about them. Everything seems to work flawlessly, and I love all the features. Nice to have the blinking "message waiting" light on all four handsets. So if you come home and go directly to the bedroom, and the main base station is in the family room, you know you have a message--and can listen to it from the bedroom. The handsets are comfortable. The buttons are nice and big and easy to push. The ONLY other thing I could ask for in these phones? A backlit keypad for dialing in the dark. But it's really a non-issue when you consider all the other bells and whistles you're getting for an AMAZING price. I'm old enough to remember paying more than this for just an answering machine! I'd highly recommend these phones to anyone looking for a new cordless system. I'm a pretty fussy guy (just ask my wife) and an totally satisfied with these phones!! (Note: My kids love the phones, too, although they may have bad things to say about the simple intercom system. Now instead of yelling for them to come down to dinner, I just call them!)

Super phones!

(5 out of 5) by No Name on Aug 10, 2007 (Planet Earth)
These phones, as the other users have reported, have some foo-foo features like multiple ring tone selections (think cell phone)and a plethora of menu-driven options; that said, however: I am very favorably impressed with their performance as PHONES. They are perfectly clear, having no competition on their 1.9GHz "cordless phone exclusive" frequency. The range isn't as good as my old Tropez DSS phone which died years ago, but these work on 250MW which seems to be the norm these days. Forget the DSS cordless phones that worked a couple of blocks away, they're history. Europe and Australia allow more RF output, but seems as if the good 'ol USA has more stringent FCC RF limits.
.
These phones also have the advantage of requiring 2 AAA Mi-MH instead of a dedicated battery pack. Makes it much easier to: [1]Replace batteries, [2] Have 'spares' aavailable if they go dead.
.
The line-of-sight range seems to be about 200 feet. Put walls and/or (particularly) aluminum siding in the way and it's down to much less. I have no problems within my 4 level 1400sq. ft. shack, however. These are the best cordless phones yet, aside from my 8 year old Tropez, which died several years ago. 2.4GhZ? Forget it! Screws up all wireless connections, P.C., headphones, etc. 5.8 GhZ? Work fine. DECT 6.0 1.9GHz? The way to go!

Piece of junk!

(1 out of 5) by TheGomez on Jul 13, 2008 (NJ, USA)
I'm not just going to throw these phones away, I'm going to give myself the satisfaction of smashing them to pieces before I do. This thing drops calls left and right, even if I'm standing next to the base. At any given time I can pick one of these units and it's not getting a signal. Don't buy this under any circumstances.
