Great sound other problems.

Great sound and electronics.

Buttons as has been mentioned, were designed by a moron who never tested them to see if they can be reasonably used. Pioneer should know better. A better design would have been easy.

Faceplate delicate. Watch out. I treat mine like a golden russion egg. Dropped it once 2 feet now half the leds aren't working.

Love it!

I purchased this for my son's car and he loves it! Works great and a great price. Would recommend!

Good Sound Quality, minor annoyings

(4 out of 5) by Alexandru Ciurea on Aug 26, 2008 (Cyprus)
The Player provides very good sound quality and I'm using Pioneer speakers. The CD player works gr8 without skipping even if the road is bumpy. Many settings for adjusting the sound.
I higly recommend it for the audio quality it provides for such a cheap player (I payed 1 year ago ~ $125)

I has aux in, cd player, tunner. Solid detachable pace plate (doesn't come with a protective case).

Some minor cons:
- if CD playback in set to Random mode, by pressing next goes to next track. I would expect to go to next random track.
- radio tunner increments match only the odd stations (ending in .1 .3 .5 .7 .9)

Could be better.

I was in the market for a new head unit for my corolla and jumped on the chance to get this player way below retail price. So I got it. Unfortunately, for me it's pretty looks do not make up for it's shortcomings.

First off, I do not know why manufacturers make push button/ knob type controls for aftermarket radios like this. It's a complete pain, especially in this player. I mean how many of you here who have this unit can honestly say you haven't mistakenly pushed the button (that switches from cd-radio,etc) while trying to put the volume up or down turning the knob? Really? It gets really frustrating after a while, that I'd rather use the control! Another thing is the cd player sensitivity. Got some badly scratch discs? Don't try in this, it won't play at all! Heck my older jvc head unit could play those discs without a hiccup! Thumbs down in that department. Another thing I found rather annoying was the random command. Let's say you want to skip that random song you just put on, guess what? It goes to the next song in order NOT RANDOM! Sound wise, I can't complain. It has excellent sound for a cheaper unit. Heck you can even connect your subs to it (and control it) which is pretty cool. The remote is more useful than the head unit controls itself which is a big plus. The other thing I like is of course the mp3 player connections, which means more music (no skipping) etc another big plus. In all I think this head unit is decent, but could be better. Like totally get rid of push button/turn knobs, they are not practical while driving. It's best to use push button only, that way if you hit a bump or something the only thing that would happen is the volume would go down or up (depends) instead of losing cool because the frickin' thing switched to something else. Plus they should really fix the cd readability. They should work on making it more reliable. In all a 3 is deserving of this unit.

Pioneer is the greatest.

I have always owned Pioneer and have never, ever had a problem with one. This comes with a auxiliary in on the front for easy MP3 connection. And has two rca outputs for amps and one for a subwoofer so you can tune it seperately. I got the optional iPod adapter and it plugs right into the back and works great for scrolling through music. If you are looking for a really affordable, high quality cd player, I would definitely suggest this.
