Great DVD Player

Works great and plays all DIVX formats easily. Upconverts with a ton on menu options to tweak. Marantz quality and looks more expensive than it is. Very Happy with purchase.

Fantastic Quality

After much research on upscaling dvd players I choose this one, got it onsale from onecall for around $80 and wow the sound and play are awesome I watch and listen to alot of movies and cds and have owned lots of players, this would be an amazing stand alone cd player, you can tweek bit conversions, and switch conversion rates for dvds. It plays everything Ive put in it, including vcds my computer wont even play. It is whisper quiet sturdy and stable and I have a feeling it is going to last a very long time.

Great Price, Great Player

(5 out of 5) by J. Wells on Aug 18, 2009 (Maine, USA)
For the price, this is an outstanding DVD player. I bought it to play Region 2 DVDs, and although the blurb on Amazon says it will play them straight out of the box, mine didn't. However, a quick web search gave me the hack code, and it now works as a region free player. Great picture, outstanding sound, and did I mention a great price? You can't go wrong.

Can you believe this price, can you?

I wanted to replace my old Pioneer dvd player used as a cd player, and when i saw this, and with an incredible low prize i didn't think it even once.

Now what can i say. Just buy it, you won't be disappointed, excellent as an Entry Level HI-FI Cd player. Excellent.

Marantz DV 4001: The Best of Many Brands Tried

(5 out of 5) by Grant A. Johnson on Jul 4, 2009 (Boulder, CO USA)
I recommend the Marantz to anyone who likes movies, whether or not they want upscaling. Besides putting out superior picture and sound, the 4001 has accepted EVERY DVD I wanted to play, including several that my old Toshiba, Sony & Magnavox players reject (due to "Unknown Data," etc.). Only inconvenience is that the Marantz remote also turns on my Magnavox, even when it is clear across the room.
